Default Help Bad compression...

So i did a compression test on my 94 civic hatch with a b18c swap. It read 40-55 for the first cylinder, 94 for the 2nd, 140 for the 3rd and 150 for the last. I hear something tapping so im guessing its my valves. Is there anyway or test to figure out if its really my valves w/out takin the head off? Im just hoping its not my rings or something. I dont blow out any black smoke or anything at all out my exhaust. If its my head should i just get new valve, springs & retainers or find a complete b16 head and slap that on. Help! this is my everyday car. if its the valves would it be safe to run that 4 a lil while? cuz i think ive been running like this 4 a while already and nothing has gone wrong so far...
Thanks for your time.

Hmm low compression on adjacent cylinders eh? Sounds like more of a head gasket problem to me. The gasket is burnt through between cylinders.

Head gaskets only puff white smoke when they are burned through to a coolant passage. In this case the gasket sounds like its burned through to another cylinder. Pull the head and find out what it is. And try not to drive it anymore.

i'd lean more towards the head. Possibly valves especially since you said you did a valve lash adjustment.

Well, since you did a valve lash adjustment...it could mean that you adjusted them too loose and this produce the clicking noise you described. This will also cause the engine to not run as well, poor gas millage, and loud operating sounds. On the other hand you can do a leak down test and listen if there is a leak in between the head and block. Or open your radiator cap and look for signs of bubbles, Which means combustion gas has entered the coolant system. Indicating cracked cylinder walls or in this case its a blown head gasket. Keep us updated.

yea i dont think theres any bubbles inthe coolant. cant even bleed it...like when i run the motor 4 a while. then try to bleed it nothing come out. just changed the thermostat... yea i think it might be the valve lash too. i did it when the motor was cold. should i try doin it when its hot? cuz its starts tappin and pulls shitty when its fully warmed up. and we all know metal expanes when its hot.

On the 92-95 honda civics the specs want you to adjust it when its cold.Just make sure theres only a little drag instead of too much or none. If you tightened it too much then the valve may be stuck open and burn.
