Default Headlight wiring

I bought a universal 3 wire headlight socket to wire driver side headlight but I'm at a loss on how to hook it up

Three wire is usually for double filament bulbs
Look at bulb
The two filaments have a common lead
That lead is for ground
The two others are for power to each filament

Before replacing, look at old wiring and how bulb goes in
This should help clear things up

Note: Should make sure wring has good contacts
Having a gap or bad solder or butt connector will cause resistance and burn out of wiring

With car information, one can tell OP how to connect the stock wires to provide headlight functions as intended by Honda.

With what car information? Owner's manual?
How to connect wires to a headlight socket only takes a little understanding of how electricity works and how a circuit functions
It isn't rocket science and doesn't require a degree from the college of Honda cars ... hahaha

For example I think the 1996 and later apply power to the common wire and switch between high and low by grounding one of the other wires.

Can find out by using multi-meter and get readings off the wires
No need to guess.

I doubt OP even know what model car he is driving/owns/working on. That's not going to help the cause.
