headers on an HX/D16Y5?
so i guess i'd have to re-locate the cat under the car? or is it not worth the money? and if anyone's done this please post your experience(s).

i USED to have a header on my Y5 motor....what you have to do is take the O2 out and extend the harness about 1-1.5 feet (DO NOT!! screw up anything with the sensor or otherwise ur out 500 bucks) Once you have that done you have to figure out what you want to do for a converter.
Considering the fact that the HX motor has high exhaust temps due to it burning so lean, you probably will find that if you install an aftermarket cat. converter on the end of the header that the inside will burn out over time. VERY VERY annoying!
It is an OBDII motor meaning that a testpipe will result in a check engine light but you can have the ecu chipped to remove this check engine light.
For whatever reason i found that the motor ran really erratic with the header and exhaust...never did find the cause. I wound up running a faster 1/4 mile time without the header than i did with it believe it or not. 17.1 with and no tuning and 16.38 without and a little tuning.
