headers, 421 or 41?
Wrecked my teg and bought a 95 Civic. So I'm like new to the Civic world and Civic mods. Figure it's gonna be pretty much the same as teg mods. So I want to know who runs 421 headers and 41 headers on their Civics. I'm thinking the 421 will run better. What have you all found to run best on your Civics? I'm going to put a catback and a cold air intake on it to start off with as well. They both seem to cost about the same, I'm looking more for high end performace, but that low end and midrange need to be kicked up a little too. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Don't expect to feel a huge difference from just a header. You need to have i/h/e before you really "feel" anything. Don't put a 4-1 on your car if you have a motor with stock internals. 4-1 is designed for higher revs. For example, if you are building an NA sohc screamer and have an upgraded head/valvetrain, higher comp, etc etc and tune to make power until 8000 or so, a 4-1 header is for you.
Sounds like you are new and won't be doing anything crazy like that, get a 421.

4-1 is ideal for vtec as it works on topend, 4-2-1 is ideal for road use however or less hardcore drivers/driving.
I've got an EK9 header which is a 4-2-1 but will definately go 4-1 when I've added my ITR exh cam.

i've got a comptech 4-2-1 header right now and its great. but im gonna supercharger my car so i bought a 4-1 header. 4-1 is better for 1/4 mile times(i belive).
Im also selling my very nice 4-2-1 hader
Oh yeah, i drive a 99 si

Get JDM 4-1, best bang for buck. Custom exhaust may be needed, but you have civic so use stock cat.
Edit, 2.5 collector won't work with stock cat , civic cat length I mean.

Hell, for that matter get a stock JDM exhaust manifold. The runners are HUUGGE!

I know both motors are 1.6 Vtec, obviously yours has a hell of a punch to it, but will it work with my older SOHC Vtec? If so, how much are you looking to get out of it? Thanks.

To be honest, it doesn't make a difference. Neither makes any significant power gains; I know this, because I've had both. And now I've got this short little "header" with a silver snail type of thing attached.
I like it a lot better
