Head gasket or new engine
Hey I been a member 4 a while but i never post much. I have a '93 si and I'm pretty sure I have a blown head gasket (milky dots in oil). This is my secondary car and my project but i can't figure out what to do. I'm on a budjet so B series is out of the question. This is my second single cam stock d16z6 blown w/hydrolock over 2 years ago replaced with a JDM d15b, love the engine, so much fun on the highway. I just replaced the cam with a zex 59300 and now this(head Gasket). I could get another d15b for $375 and have it installed for $250 and the guy said that he would swap the cam out at no additional cost. Or, should i change the head gasket on the old engine. Also i have an overheating problem and i think it is because of the head gasket. Sorry for the long post but i just want to drive my hatch again, my G20 looks nice but it aint no Honda.

Would most likely go well over $375 in parts and labor to rebuild it.

Oh I thought the D15B got hydrolocked. As long as there isn't any internal damage replacing the HG would be the cheaper alternative.

Usually they do go hand in hand. As far as what else could be wrong to cause overheating, it could really be anything from a bad waterpump to something like a clog in the heater core or bad thermostat.

Re: (HondaFanatic708)
heat works when not overheating so eater core is fine, water pump replaced when i did the swap so i thik that it's ok and i took out the thermostat a while ago, i live in Florida so i'm pretty sure it's the head gasket. I just want o know that if i change the head gasket that will be all and my overheating problem is gone.

well theres only one way to find out. i dont know what your future plans for the motor are but if you do do the head gasket put in arp head studs incase you wanna boost later. if it were me i would do the gasket.
