Head Gasket / 1994 Civic CX
Gonna have to replace the head gasket on my 1994 Civic CX. My buddy told me to put one on there from a 1996 Civic EX.
Any help where to order?
What parts I'll need?
The car won't quit smoking and the smoke smells sweet. Also going through quite a bit of antifreeze so it must be the HG.

Don't even know what engine we're talking about. And no, I'm not going to assume it is stock. You probably also have other issues past the head gasket. Compression and leakdown tests.

lol
I'd find what cause your head gasket to go.
CX comes a 1.5 liter, non-VTEC motor. If you do consider doing what your pal suggest, you're gonna have to have a bit of time and money on your hands.

The 94 cx came with a D15B8 and the 96 ex came with a D16Y8. You do the math.
As for the parts, you might want to get the whole gasket set and might want to do your timing belt and water pump if you haven't done it in awhile. And although it does sound like a headgasket you definitely want to do what grumble suggested. Nothing worse then paying money to fix a problem and finding out its not that.

Now that said did the car ever overheat? Once those engines have overheated they never seem to be the same again, and a lot of times they just keep blowing headgaskets ever 6 months to a year after.

The car doesn't overheat at all. In fact, it stays well cooled. It just smokes alot. The car sat for a few years in some harsh winters. I tried to start it as much as I could when I was in town. It runs good. It sputters sometimes when at a stoplight. And other times it runs without any sputtering. It smokes when I start it up then it stops.
