Default have a question about emissions

ok i have a 93 civic with a b18b in it but the car came with no cat, just a pipe made from the header back,

i bought an ebay hi flow cat a while ago for my other civic that im not using, and i would have to have them cut the flanges off of it and weld it in

i failed my emissions and i was wondering if it will work?? i was also running 92 octacne too, cause im used to using it for my other car if that would even matter

heres a pic:

No, that "cat" is just a resonated test pipe. It won't allow you to pass emissions testing.

Smogs a bitch!!!

Slapping a "cat" on will not help you pass smog. It depends on what year that motor is. has to be a 93+. By any chance did you get the motor barred and certified by a smog ref? it could be a ton of things, ask the tech to help you figure out what it is.

i bought the engine from a wrecking yard with 108,000 miles on it,

the throttle body is from a gsr

they said i passed the cruise test but failed idle,

car idles fine but sometimes drops to about 850 rpms

car just has a straight pipe no cat or resinators to a muffler (from the header back)

I think you're best bet is to talk to a smog tech in your state. Smog laws can vary from state to state. If you took your car to smog check, they probably gave you a printout of how your car did and where it failed. Usually on the printout it will have your hydrocarbon levels and NOX levels most experienced smog techs can look at this printout and tell if its a bad cat or possible lazy O2 sensor, etc. Also you might want to check your timing because that can affect your emissions. I live in Cali, so for us we need to get our cars refereed if we change the motor to one from another car. I think if you talk to a tech, it might save you some headaches and money. Hope this helps.
