Default Which Hatchback?

I'm currently driving a 93 accord lx, and I was wanting to get a civic hatch and put a integra motor into it.. I have a couple different friends that have newer civics w/swaps in them. Got me intrested in this. I found two thats for sale here locally and I was wondering which one would be easiest to swap a gsr or an ls motor into.. the first is:

1993 Hatch DX
Has 87000ish miles
He wants $5750 for it.. 5 speed and all
It's clean but has a semi-big dent (bout the size of a softball in the passanger rear quarter) Clean title..

and the second one is

1992 Hatch VX
has 111000ish miles
$5000
5speed, has a few door dings in both doors and a scratch along front driverside fender.

Which one is the better deal and which is easier to put a swap in.. I've read up on this subject quite a bit from a few different forums and can't really decide which one would be best for me.. I want something that can get up and go when ya need to and just looks decent. (stock exterior w/black steel wheels is fine) If you guys need anymore info just let me know. Thanks in advance

I'm actually looking for a hatch too....I'd personally go for the VX...it's the lightest out of em all. BTW, $5000 is a rip man. I'd try to be patient...you'll be able to find a much better deal than that.

What would be a decent price for a 1992 vx with 111k miles? I was thinking of trying to offer him 4k but would that still be too much?

Well my buddy just picked up a 92 DX with 110K miles...super clean...for only $3300. I've found some VXs as low as $3200. Still, these are all above blue book. Problem is, these cars are very popular..hence higher prices. I probably wouldn't spend anymore than $3500.

Not sure where you are but I have a hatch for sale. Its a 92 CX(charcoal grey) that needs a fender hood and bumper. I am only asking $1750. I also have a few B-series motors that can be installed for a good price. Let me know.

The 1996 and up civic are generally heavier than the 1992-1995 CX,VX, and DX models.

DO NOT pay $5,000 for a ******* 1992-1995 Hatchback!

Try to get a 1992-1993 hatch too, because they have only ONE airbag vs. TWO in the 1994-1995. Every pound counts if you want to be fast.

Get a CX or VX, or if you must then get a DX. DO NOT get an Si - I know, I had one from 1997 - last month. I sold it because it weighed 2280lbs. vs. my friends CX and VX models at 2080lbs.

You can find good-bodied CX and VX hatches for $2,000 here in GA! i know, because 5 of my friends have all paid $2,000 or LESS!

FYI: i just bought a 1992 CX with a 1st-gen B16 (ghetto way to do it...) and a HalTech ($1,200 ECU) already in it for only $2,500!

I sold the ECU, swap, and mounts for $2,000! So I really got the car for $500!

Be patient, and you will have the better car...

I agree with Tom please be patient man like he said DO NOT PAY $5000 FOR A CIVIC HATCH! Even though Tom sold his for $5000 . Go to http://www.AutoTrader.com and go to cars zip code, used cars-honda civic 1992-1993 then put 0 to 2500. 2500 is already pushing it like people have said you can find HB for 2000 or less, just be patient. Remember get a 1992-1993 VX or CX, there the lightest. Oh by the way if you have a 1993 Accord LX why not get a H22A swap??? Not saying you shouldn't get the HB, just exploring more options. Get the HB first and a swap then if you want to go back to your accord and do a H22A swap.

Oh are you going fo N/A or Forced Induction??? GSR or Type-R swap???? A little advice if your going for F.I. get the GSR swap b/c 9 times out of 10 your going to need or lower the compression anyway. Makes no sense in getting a type-R with USDM 10:6 or JDM 11:0 only to lower it when you go F.I. Right TOM

I wouldn't mind picking one up if it was cheap.. I drove from texas to arizona to get my accord for supercheap.. Road trips are fun

My accord is pretty beatup on the exterior(131k miles) and worn on the interior.. Been trying to find someone that wants to buy it but no luck yet..

Im wanting to stay with the GSR n/a.. But eventually put a supercharger or something of the sort once i get enough saved. Nothing like racing somebody that you've raced before and lost to, then blasting their doors off

in your old si, did you have a swap? mine weighs 2398 with b-series, 5 lug, 26mm mugen rear bar, autopower and full interior minus bags and abs though.

Rodney:

My car weighed 2280 with the B18C5 swap, full interior, 1/4 tank of gas, and 3 sus bars. Had GS-R front brakes (heavier).

My only saving grace in the weight dept. were my 12lb. Rota Circuit 8s.

I think my CX will end up weighing only 2060. I will have NO interior except for two front seats and a dash. The tar is out, no carpet, no panels, no headliner, etc. I am keeping my heater core, but there was never any A/C in the car, so no under-dash A/C equip is there. That heavy-*** firewall matting is gone now too - that bitch must weigh over 10lbs.!

Until I can locate goo interior panels (maybe even new from Honda) and afford new carpet, I'll keep it stripped out. The inside will be freshly painted, so it will not be ugly even though it will be bare.

I just got tired of getting beaten with my old GS-R swap by my friends' GS-R swaps i their CX, VX, and DX hatches - I even had more mods than them!

The ITR swap put me way over the top 13.9 vs. their 14.6's - but the new car should easily bust mid 13's due to the weight loss and ATS 4.929 FD.

You will NOT find a 1992-1993 white or black hatchback for $2,000 with a good body.

Why?

White was only a 1994-1995 color, and black came ONLY on the Si model. Si models usually go for too much, and like I said before they are PIGS compared to the CX, VX, and DX models.

Did you know that even the 1993 Civic DX coupe is LIGHTER than the Si hatchback? Even WORSE, the 1992-1993 DX 4-DOOR is lighter too! My friend's 1992 DX 4-door weighed only 2275lbs!

Where did his white hatch come from? I was pretty sure that in the U.s white wasn't available until 1994...I'm SURE the Si was not availible in white until 1994 - MAYBE other trims liks CX and DX were, my bad if I'm wrong...

Today I just bought a 94 White VX HB for $4000. The body is in almost perfect condition, no rust, 113k miles, and hasn't been in an accident.

I might have paid a little too much, but I really need a car for school, and I was willing to pay more for the VX.

Other cars had minor problems, dents, scratches, not white(white was #1 on my list), were DX's, and some weren't even Hatches.

I'm swapping an engine in 2 months, so I figure I might as well save all the weight I can.
