Default HAS THIS HAPPEND BEFORE???

OK like two dasy ago i locked my keys in my car and i didnt have a spare so long story short after i got my door unlocked with a hanger i went to go get a spare made so i put my original key up as a spare and i use my spare key so i go to school to day and me and this guy are talking about how hondas are so easy to fix and ect and the convo came up about getting into hondas how easy would it be and me being dumb i said man i can get into your car real easy witch i know i could but it would have taking like 5min but anyway after school in the parking lot he was like try to get in and i was like ok so i stuck the spare key i got mad into his passenger door wigglked it for like a second and bam locked popped up and it was unlocked.. he was shocked and astonished and i was sitting there in disbelief.... like dame if you all could have seen the look on his face me and my friend were laughing till our stomach started to hurt.... but i was wondering does this happen often like keys workign on other hondas becasue when i went to work today i tried it on my managers 97 integra and well iam not going to say what happened but yea has this stuff happended before...

if the key holes have been used a lot the little metal pieces inside get filed down by the key and yes you can start using your key on lots of cars, also honda does make master keys...

only so many lock combos can be made so somewhere out ther is multiple keys to multiple cars that are identical.

but a worn key can be used to unlock a different car

the key holes are worn. if you keep using that spare on your car, yours will be worn one day and any key will open your car too. stick with the original key

and no, honda does not make the same keys twice...

i doubt theives even need a key.... and btw, just because you opened your friend's door with it doesn't mean you can start his car with it

K I WILL STOCK WIT MY ORIGINAL KEY BUT TOMMORW IAM GOING TO SEE IF I CAN HAVE HIS CAR UNLOCKED AND RUNNING FOR HIM AFTER SCHOOL.... HAHAH NAW IAM JUST PLAYING ...THANKS FOR THE INFO THOUGH

This is why Honda switched to chipped keys & immobilizers, and recently started using a different type of cut for their keys and lock cylinders. Just more layers of protection against theives.

yeah when keys holes get used used up almost any key can open them. I open my girlfriend's CRX all the time.
