Has anybody swapped a JDM tach into a US EG cluster?
I searched and checked the FAQs but couldn't find any info at all.
I never wanted to spend the money on a full JDM cluster that reads in kilometers, and I never wanted to add a seperate monster tach either...but I came across a really good deal on a JDM EG9 tach seperate from the cluster on Ebay and I was wondering if it will install directly into the USDM cluster or not? Has anybody done anything like this before?
BTW, the car is a 1995 Civic LX sedan with a B16A swap and the tach is out of a '92-'95 Civic SI-R sedan which came stock with a B16A.
Here are some pics of the tach.
Thanks

Like I said, I have no desire to have my speedo read in kilometers and I'm not even a big fan of the white faces. I would love to have a UKDM black face cluster that reads in miles but I am not about to pay $350 plus shipping for one. The Integra is my race car and the Civic is my low budget beater so this seemed like the best solution to get a tach that reads properly in my car for only $43. Besides, I kind of like the new Ferraris where the tach is yellow and the other guages are black. The tach should stand out because it's the most important guage!

Yeah, I should do that, huh? I'm planning on going through and replacing all of the bulbs so at least everything lights up the same color at night.

What difference should that make? Mine has nothing but empty space there.

well i have it..i know...idk if he has it but ASSUMING he doesnt he probably doesnt know that the whole door ajar thing is all wired with the rpm cluster..so if that rpm cluster comes out it *** comes out...the door ajar thing is a simple circuit...2 wires per door...real simple to wire to make it functional

I really don't car if the door ajar lights work. The TCS light won't work either because I sure as hell don't have traction control! All I care about is that the tach works and reads properly so I don't shift too soon or bang the limiter when I'm having fun.

exactly..lol.TCS is deffff not on our car....im wiring it with/as a shift light...so that it lights up when im red lining/bouncing off the rev limiter... ....
but yea those thing are just "jdm"..hahah..not required to be functional..lol..

I have an EG6 cluster with the door ajar lights (TCS version) and I compared it with an EG4 cluster that I have, and the screw locations are different.
Hopefully they are the same for the EG9 and USDM housings for your sake.
But I know for a fact that the JDM gauges have different depth to them than the USDM gauges.

Actually, I'm a little confused about the model it came out of. It would have to be an SiR to have TCS, right? The confusing thing is that the redline is just below 8k instead of just above it. Why would they change that?

Redline is below because it came off of an automatic SiR EG9.
