which harness for LS/VTEC?

which harness for LS/VTEC?
Im building an all motor ls/vtec and im planning on running an ls/vtec base mapped and chipped p28. I was under the impression i would need to use an OBD1 92-95 EX civic harness (im putting it in an OBD2b non vtec civic cx). But recently i was told at a local shop i should splice the harness and make it work with the OBD1 dizzy, then run lines to it for VTEC. Sounds to me like its more work to do that, so what should i run? modified OBD2b with conversion harness or OBD1 harness?

If you used to obd2 harness you would have to change the shock tower plugs, the distributor plugs, and add a wire for the vtec solenoid. Too much work.
A better option would be to use the 92-95 ex harness because all of the plugs are correct and it has the wire already, but you'll need to lengthen the wires going to some of the plugs.
Your best option is to get a harness from a 92-95 gsr or a 94-95 delsol vtec. They are both the correct obd generation, have the vtack wire, and are the right size for your block.

thanks for the help i was kind of stumped as to why they would have me waste my time with the obd 2 harness. when i do switch to obd1 am i not going to be using a certain sensor? I thought i remembered something like that, but i dont remember where i heard that?

My OBDI has a knock sensor, not exactly sure what you're referring too. Anyways, I always recommend using the wiring harness that came with the car especially on an OBDII civic (as the harness goes all the way to the ecu). The 92-95 civic EX harness and 94-95 GSR harness do not go all the way to the ecu, they plug in at the shock towers.
