Harmonic Dampers
Saw this in the new Super Street and thought i'd look into it a bit more.
just wondering what ya'll thought. Seems to me honda doesnt use a stock damper of any sort. Would this really help anything at all? Am i missing something? I assume with an extreme cam lobe it would help a bit, but.... whatever...open for discussion

Horschel Motorsports is pleased to announce:
The Sport Compact engine harmonic damper market has just been drastically improved. Horschel Motorsports introduced the racing version Fluidampr for the B Series Honda at the 2003 SEMA Show and the response was overwhelming. Buyers, racers, and engine builders were clamoring to get a look at the damper that everyone has been waiting for.
Torsional tests have proven that the Fluidampr, with an aluminum housing, is superior to any of the dampers available on the market today. The Fluidampr not only performs well, the racing version also has an under drive alternator pulley, and has correct timing marks that will not slip.

Re: Harmonic Dampers (BigZ88)
Stock crank pullies have a damper built in. Underdrive pullies yield such measley ressults alot of people don't bother. Its just easier pulling the belts off.

Re: Harmonic Dampers (splitime)
notice the rubber insert in the stock pulley? that is the dampner, the problem comes with aftermarket pullies that do not have these rubber inserts ao then the harmonic vibration goes to the bearings and causes premature wear. so the stock honda ones are fine, dont you think that honda did a little research before designing them. and if you want to increase horse power then cut the A/C and P/S grooves off of the OEM honda one and get it balanced again. so you now have an OEM lightend pulley

what rubber insert?
i got a pair of stock d series pulleys that dont have any rubber.
i have only seen those on the h and f series engines where they ahve larger alternators and ac compressors that would be a slight jolt as the turn off or on. i always figured the rubber was there to be a shock absorber.
