Default hard to shift..

i've done some searching and came up with nothing.. here's the problem.. for some reason it's so hard for me to shift gears. it doesn't slide smoothly.. sometimes i can't get it in reverse too.. i have to wiggle it and force it in real hard.. what's causing this problem?

ok, i haven't had this problem until now. lately, i noticed my shifter is seems kinda loose.. when it's in gear.. it still moves a bit and it rattles when im running around 3k. i have a short shifter that's not that short too.. it's just a little shorter than stock. btw, it's a 95 hatch

start by checking your bushings and the linkage mounting hardware.
