MAP and ECT codes -- Check for possible swapped sensor connectors.

so it's the same as stock on the codes?!? AWESOME!!! I hate to ask, but where on is the map sensor? I assume it is on the manifold...upper or lower?

For most Civics, it's on the throttle body:

so all I need to do is check and make sure that the connectors are on the right plug and then if so just swap them out right?

Look for all sensor connectors (e.g., for the MAP and ECT sensors) that could be accidentally swapped. Then verify that all such connectors are plugged into the correct sensor.

how will I know if there in the right location? All I can think of is making sure the wires are not pulled to tight like there not supposed to stretch that far...

You need wiring diagrams for your engine wire harness. Then match wire colors to sensors.

What year and make is the H23 swapped into? What engine wire harness?

the ECU says 93 prelude, and the del sol is a 93 SI. I know almost nothing about the swap that was done though. I think they swapped the shifter too....odd.

I don't have wiring diagrams for the Prelude.

For the stock Del Sol:

3P MAP connector - GRN/BLU, WHT, YEL/RED

2P ECT connector - RED/WHT, GRN/WHT

The ECT switch is on the thermostat housing. You are looking for the ECT sensor, which also has a 2P connector but is located under the distributor.

The MAP sensor is clearly plugged to the correct connector.

Is the green plug sensor below the distributor or on the thermostat housing? Its wire colors don't match the Del Sol, but the engine wire harness be have been swapped. What's the unplugged connector behind the green connector sensor?

Also check for any damaged terminals in the two connectors and sensors.

IIRC it's on the T-housing, I will take a few more pics in the AM and post up

The switch not sensor is on the thermostat housing. Post a photo of the ECT sensor with a 2P connector below the distributor. What's disconnected in the background?

More deleted pics that are irrelevant in hindsight.

the extra wire on the drivers side of the engine bay does look as though it is for the cruise control. but the cable connecting to it on the firewall looks as though it has been cut out so you would need a full cruise control setup to regain it. and that extra plug does look as though it could go where there is a plug missing on the sensor on the coolant line fitting, try connecting it and taking your negative terminal off your battery for 10 seconds, reconnect the terminal and start your car and see what CEL lights are still on, and yes i would go ahead and replace the plugs wires as well.

Does the gray connector in the middle of the photo below have two wires? If so, what color wires are attached to this connector and do they match those expected for the ECT sensor (see my earlier post)?

Does the connector you are touching in the picture below have two wires? If so, what color are they?

As mentioned, it's critical at this point to clear the ECU of CEL codes to see whether the MAP and ECT codes repeat. You can also clear the ECU by removing the 7.5A Back Up fuse under the hood for a couple of minutes.

I agree. Definitely replace the pitted plug wires.

ok, I know for the most part wires are just personal preference as far as brand.....but what wires would you recommend for this, and where would you order them from?
