H22 Swap
I have a 98 civic EX, would be a good idea to swap an h22 in this vehicle or a b18?
Thanks guys for helping me with this.

Hard work?
Not hard at all, especially if you pick up a H2B kit.
edit: Just plan ahead and budget more time than you think you might need if this is your first swap.

if you can get TRACTION -keyword when racing, its not all about power, ill be out in front of that H22 before the tires hook, oh and unless you got money for the good axles youll be replacing them everytime you launch 2 hard

lol, yes hard work. dont care how cool you are, its a lot of work to get a H series in a EJ8.
Tracktion is an issue for Noobs, little more money... problem solved.
lol i love it when this H22 vs B18 bull **** happens.

Re: H22 Swap (t0p_sh0tta)
i would like to build a hatch all motor H22, not hating on h series but the h swaps are a total wast of time unless you have the dough, i mean its not hard work at all, done a couple of em', gotta cut the pass mount out, if you want big boost, to put some good pistons in it you have to resleeve the block, its cool and everything but too much trouble to just spin all the way down the track in the end

b18C5 cost much more then an H series. just junk yard the special parts in just a few hours. 700hp rated axles from this guy i know, for 300$ same warranty as hasport

Re: H22 Swap (THC1107)
the thing is that these days h swaps are a lot more cheaper than they used to be, a lot easier, but if you want to actually build one all out, your going to run into just as much money, my buddie tuned a stock C5 on 30psi and it runs 10.50s all day

Re: H22 Swap (nickturboeg6)
my old type r motor shyt all over h22's DAILY and it wasnt even built up all the way..honestly i want to go h though.. buying axles isnt that big of a deal in my opinion and h's have alot more torque which is great for my all motor mindset..reguardless if i was building a motor i world buy ugraded axles because of the added stress on the stock ones..any built has the potiential to break axles..
no matter wut.. make sure you get an lsd tranny.. it makes all the difference

Re: H22 Swap (Steve8910)
simple answer: race car - H22, street car - B
K series is kinda up in the air, arguable .
It also VERY much depends on your goals and intended paths. In short, you need to do some research and figure out what you want to do.... as everyone has their OPINION, but I don't think anyone here has any real reason other than preference and perceived compatability.
In my oppinion....boost your stock motor if it's in good shape. It'll put down more than enough poewr to make you happy if all you're looking for is a little umph. If you must swap, B is easiest....H is not a all-together pretty swap, but doable...same with K. You'll need custom axles for the H to be reliable and a lot of 'extras'. displacement is nice, but only if you're going for a very crazy all-motor setup.
