Default Gutted the Hatch this weekend (pics inside)

Hey guys,
Well I gutted my hatch this weekend in preparation for an alarm install, power door and window conversion, carpet swap and teg dash. I just wanted to share some pics with you.

Here is the car totally gutted :

I took out the civic heater core and blower because I'll be upgrading to Integra spec.

Here's a shot of the old carpet:

Here's a shot of the new carpet being test fitted:

I bought the carpet from stockinteriors.com on ebay for $120. They said that it was pre cut, but that just meant that it was cut into a square. I will have to cut every little hole out for the center console.

If anyone wants to share any experiences doing this sort of work please do.

All comments are welcome.

Thanks.

They're huge.

So wait, you took out your carpet, your have no dashboard, but you have two subwoofers in the back?

Old carpet didn't look too bad. I would lay it over the new carpet and trace around the holes with a fabric pen. Make them a little smaller than they are on the old carpet, then try to fit it in. As you put it around each object, just trim to fit; that way you don't take off too much. Sounds like a good deal for the carpet...I just wish that they made stuff in different colors (ie: black for 96+)

Good luck with the rebuild...time for new clips

Looks good!

I've been wanting to change my carpet and get an integra dash, for a long time. Unless a dash is given to me, I probably won't do it. I do need to change my carpet soon.

Good luck!

Keep posting pics of the progress.

Sorry about the huge pics. When I opened them they looked fine.

No, that's just a 6x9 in a box behind my seat. Temporary until a rig is built for them in the side panels.

That's going to look good! If only they made black carpets for the 96+ Civics. I can't wait to see the finished product with the Integra dash/console.

litterbox,

All of the aftermarket carpet companies seem to be the same. They all say the are "molded" to a stock floor pan. Did yours seem to be "molded", or was it just like a flat piece of carpet like you would buy off a roll?

the closest thing to it is 99-00 civic si carpet(EM1) color code k, that is the dark grey color code...I had color code F and switch everything to code K(including the dash and everything) I didn't want black carpet, seems like it would show anything white really bad. The Dark Grey is just perfect I think.

right on Burke. it's time to make this sick puppy shell the fastest bioatch in VA... GSR dash with auto gear box center console sounds tricky though. figuring out the door pannels will be "fun" as well.

Do you have a manual center console to replace the auto one?

Yes, mine was molded to fit the frame which helped with fitmet a little. It's still such a PITA to get all the cutting done.

<U>UPDATE</U>

This weekend me and JR (jr_istheman) installed an amp kit. It came with a cool distribution block that houses a massive fuse. We had to drill small holes to secure it to the frame. We found a cool, trick place for it. It's mounted under the fuse box near the battery. With the fuse box in place you can't tell it's there. Sleeper effect. lol. I'll post pics when I get home.

On friday I'll be getting an alarm installed. It will be wired up to power door locks, and power windows. The windows are JDM so figuring out what wire goes where will be a bitch. I've gotten some good advice on that though. Me and JR tried to install the alarm this weekend but we were simply confused and overwhelmed. I figured it would be better to let a professional show me how to do it properly, even though I have to pay more

My plan is to get all the wiring done so I can get the carpet and dash in, in the next couple of weeks.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what other things should be addressed before the interior goes in?
Thanks.
George
