It can be done. It's difficult, and most of us do NOT recommend it. BUT, it can be done. For example:

Actually Shawn, the link you posted shows the entire GS-R dash in a Civic, not just the cluster.

The cluster does NOT fit correctly and you'll either be cutting off your view of the temp and gas guages or you'll have to have this guy here on H-T make you one. He does a great job from what I've seen, but I can't remember his SN.

Just get the 1992-1995 Si/EX cluster. The tach goes to 9000rpms and isn't that all you'll need?

True, but as you note, it can be done. It's a GIANT pain in the butt, and it doesn't look right, but it can be done.

Hopefully, our warnings will be heeded.

I'm curious if the guy wants to swap the whole DASH or just swap the GS-R CLUSTER into the existing Civic dash.

Which one my friend?

it says cluster in the 1st post

This is a VERY ANNOYING INSTALL!!!!!!!!!!
- you will blow fuses alot ( i blew 1 fuse 6 times )

what you will have to do is re arrange every wire so that the cluster will work
It Is NOT plug and play!

also it does not fit in the space properly, so you will have to figure out how to make it stay......

if you are not wanting to do that sort of thing, then get a cluster from an EX, or LX....you dont have an SI....and that looks retarded in a NON SI car......

but if you are up to the challange go for it....it looks cool as hell......

heres mine

i have installed a gsr cluster NOT DASH into my eg.. it was NOT a bolt on process either.. lots of rewiring, and time to make it fit so that it looks OK.. you can buy the on that a guy on the board makes and sell but i didnt have the $$ for it at the time so i did my own thing.. for the most part im happy w/ it and people see it are like wtf? here is a pic of it.. i have a good wiring diagram also if your that interested in doing the project..

check the CLASSIFIEDS forum, and do a search

there was a user from texas doing these swaps

he would of course use a GS-R cluster, and fit it into the civic glass plate, so where it would fit PERFECTLY like stock...the only thing u need is the wiring to do and that would be it !

good luck

I would just get a 92-95 Si/EX cluster and throw some 8200 RPM redline guage faces in it... waaaay easier.

That's exactly what I did to mine!! Didn't want to spend 275 for it!!

here is the link with the wiring diagram from my friend website: http://www.geocities.com/cinq112/gsrclusterswap.html

As for making it fits, you on your own man!!

good luck

i just put mine in about a month ago, the wiring is pretty easy as long as you have the right diagram, the first one i got was all messed up, what i did i took off the plastic cover, cut off all the edges off of the gsr cluster, then put it in, then i took the cover off of my friends old cx cluster from an eg, at just put in in front, it looks pretty good, you dont have to cut up your dash like the other guy did

that is pretty damn funny considering you have a DX coupe with a GSR cluster........hmmmm.

i think the Si cluster would do just fine.....he did mention he is gettin a new motor in the near future.

I think he's talking about the glowing "SI" that's on the Si gauge... that looks kinda whack on a non-Si.....

Yup my bad; was thinking of the cluster mods that some ppl did to make it glow... no Si in Australia (it's called VTi-R but same ****).

This diagram is error free and I can back that up I installed mine about 2 weeks ago and EVERYTHING works 100%. You can work with the cluster and make it fit "near stock" but never "perfect". I retained the GSR plastic shield and trimmed only the top of the cluster. Just be creative and patient and you can make it turn out pretty good.

It actually does glow. Never noticed it til last night.

Oh well, still looks better than a wobbly GSR cluster imo
