GSR CIVIC TEST DRIVE!!!!!!!!!
Whoa am i excited!! lol just lost my "virginity" first time driving a gsr powered civic and let me tell u it hauls azz. It's my friends 98 civic with a 98 gsr, he is using the ex computer, would he get more power with a p72??
He also needs to replace the temperature sensor, right now has the fan rigged, and would he need an aluminum radiator, maybe del sol radiator, any suggestions!!
I currently have an h22 integra, im goin for gsr hatch= the way too go!!!

Serious, I would never give up an H22 for a B18C, not even an R.
My H22 civic was always 1 second faster than an equally modded B18C civic.

If he's got a Skunk2 manifold, and a chipped P28, he's good to go...

tying the IAB's open would in fact be tying them shut. open is the default position for the IAB's on all honda's that have IAB's.
how they work... ecu gives either power or ground to vacuum switch at start(pending obd1 or obd2)-> vacuum closes short runners -> ecu releases power or ground to swith at 5,XXX rpm-> lack of vacuum allows short runners to open
An obd1 p72 would run the engine better (with obd2a->obd1 conversion harness)
The stock radiator is fine to run a stock gsr
and if his car is that much faster than yours you should be worrying about how out of tune your car is...

well hes got a h22 in a teg... so that b18c would be better... b18c has the same hp, less torque, and lighter weight..
h22 is same hp, more of everythign else
so that torque value proly isnt making up for the weight gain

Re: (Morning Call)
how does a b18c have same horsepower as a h22. he's talking about a b18c1-170 not b18c5-195.
FYI the weight difference between a h22 and b18s (in general), there is not much of a difference....there is a tread on here that's shows the weight difference between the two motors....get your facts straight

Re: (Spoon_monkey)
FYI, yes there is not much difference between the itr and h22 engines but it's the fact that the h22 is mounted farther forward in the bay that makes it "feel" like your car is holding a bigger motor.

man i dont see HOW you could EVER say that the H22 is slower then a gsr... ive driven both and i was way more scared when i drove that H22 then that gsr, it felt like it was almost to be exspected out of it, not the ride that would give anyone there brown wings...

Re: (miahmouse)
I really don't know what secondary runners are, i need some schooling on this so correct me if im wrong, is something in the intake manifold. ::guessin::, and as far as the set up i like his better because of the handling, i feel my car would be great for strip/drag only, plus a gsr civic won't understeer so much!!
thanx for the radiator advice!!!

Re: (Deucedeuceteg)
secondary intake runners are found on the h22 and gsr intake manifolds, at whatever given rpm the ECU opens the secondary runners using vacuum to activate them. Thats the best way i can describe it. you have to use a p72 to activate them. I was running a gsr swap in my hatch and didnt have them working cause i was running a chipped p28. If they are not wired up you supposedly lose torque down low cause they stay open the whole time.
