GSR brake conversion onto hatch CX few quick questions
ok who has this setup and which proportional valve and brake booster did you use???
I've heard that the gsr PPV isn't mandatory but it helps but what about the brake booster??? does the stock cx booster work?
and also are there any suggestions you guys can give me before doing this conversion??? such as which booster to use etc. etc. all help is appreciated
P.S. its a 93 cx hatch and i have 99 gsr spindles and e-brake cables

Re: GSR brake conversion onto hatch CX few quick questions (Bonez21)
you will need proportional valve from an Si model of your year car but its not necessary. You can use the CX BB and MC but don't know how long it will last with the bigger brakes. If you have the GSR BB and MC, use it but you will have to rebend one line, easy.
Do you have the whole set up of just he rear? Good luck getting to the ebrake cable bolts. Its pain in the ***.

I have a 1999 GSR front and rear disc conversion on my 1992 CX, and I am using a brake booster, master cylinder, and proportioning valve from a 1999 Si. IMO that is what I would recommend !

i'm running GSRs all around, integ RS prop valve, 91 civic EX 4dr 15/16 MC (completely bolt in) with stock CX booster. the stock 13/16 MC required a lot of pedal travel. i had to push the brake pedal almost to the floor to get the car to stop normally. with the new MC, pedal effort is increased a bit, but nothing big

I thought it was a pain in the *** bending with reflaring the line. and flaring it.. but the tube bender i rented made big bends.. get a ls one. there is no reflaring. or get 91 ex 4 door mc it will bolt up to your booster, with adequete pedal feel.

yea i've heard good things about that 91 4dr. ex MC do you think if you upgraded your stock booster you would have better pedal pressure

For now I'm just upgrading the front brakes and I'm going to be using the 91 Civic EX MC but if you are changing out the rears get the intergra prop valve as well

Re: (Bonez21)
you can always return the 91 4 dr ex MC back to ur local auto store if u dont like the pedal feel. price=about 50

i replied to your PM... but just in case: i do think that if i did upgrade my BB, i'd have less pedal effort. i just dont think its worth the extra time and $$

Re: (Bonez21)
^^^^^it is way worth it, especially in the summer.. i had a stock booster and mc for a month or 2 .. it still brakes, but one hot day after school the pedal went to the floor. it still brakes but what is the use of putting bigger brakes???? arent you doing it for performance??? so why not bo it... for 50 bucks.. if u can get a rs MC then get it.. if there is a gsr on hand then get thaty too... it was my convience to get a gsr MC and BB..

Re: (bpowa)
I am not trying to take over your thread or anything but, I am wanting to do a Front GSR conversion on my 93 CX. What all do I need to do it? I know I need the rotors and calipers. Also, the spindle..does that inclue the A arm?? Do I need the lower control arm? From reading the thread I am guessing I need the get the 99/00 Si PPV,MC and BB. Will that bolt right up??

no a arm needed.. unless u want a front swaybar. 99 BB, MC will bolt right up.. So does RSteg MC and Booster... the GSR u need to bend, cut and reflare line for male fitting.. that should cover everything.

The rears will clear but the fronts won't on vx rims with upgraded gsr brakes.
Also highly recommend mc/booster upgrade, especially if you don't have abs since your brakes will probably lock up quite a bit more on panic stops due to poor brake modulation feedback from the longer pedal travel and non-linear braking.
