Default got a new motor, its slower?

i blew my old y8 it had like 85k miles on it, and i put one in that has 55k miles with a new timing belt a new water pump. and all that now it feels slower and it sound alot deeper throated, but on the highway it barely picks up, it used to be so much faster. anyone have an idea of whats wrong with it. BTW they are both completely stock

would the timing even have anything to do with it. its not miss fireing or nothing it starts fine it idles fine. acceleration and therottle response sucks.

lol yeah good question knockout, I've never heard of a Honda engine blowing that soon, what did you do? I accidentally ran mine 800 above the redline for around 5-10 minutes going over 100 in 3rd gear on my engine with over 126,000 and it runs perfectly fine. (Although I no longer drop from 5th to 3rd at over 90)

did the person or people u bought it from run any kind of checks, warranty? if not do a lil tune up yourself. i had the same problem about 2 weeks ago. i towed it to my shop and changed plugs, wires, belts, cap, and rotor button along with an oil change. so do lil stuff and see how it comes out....good luck

you did drop a Y8 in it and not another engine right? Does it have the same tranny as before? That could make a difference.

You mentioned you changed the timing belt. Make everything lined up (all your marks). Next have you timing checked. Check your firing order (I know I'm just covering all the bases). Did you engine come with a catalytic converter? Make sure its not clogged. Thats all I can think of this early in the morning

Check the timing. Check the compression.
Was it just the bottom end you replaced?

Timing can have everything to do with it. If the spark is not sparking at the right time (top of the compression stroke) you don't get the ideal detonation and loose power. Are you sure the engine you got was in good shape, if timing isn't the issue?

I'm not sure for Civics, but for Integras 135 is minimum and they are higher compression. If they are low then the engine would have to be rebuilt to bring it a significant amount back up. Check the timing though. Just make sure it isn't to far advanced or to far back. How is the spark and all that stuff. Sometimes a good tune-up can give a car a good amount of power back.
