Got a 98 LS motor today!! :)
Got a 1998 LS motor today. Has 52K miles on it. Not putting it in my car though. I'm just going to put it on an engine stand and work it up before I drop it in. I was thinking about a B16 or GSR head, JE pistons, port, polish, and 3 angle valve job. Some other misc stuff to.
Motor is an automatic, but has no tranny. So just get a stage 2/3 clucth and covert to manual and get a tranny. Lots of work to do still...
But hey, I'm happy.

Nice.
Keep it stock.
Turbo it
Well, if you want to make any kind of real power, you'll turbo it.

I got it dirt cheap! I'll have pictures of it tomorrow. STOCK??? I hear the turbo part. How about some low compression pistons? I heard the B18B is already a low compression motor.
I'm heading for mid 12's in the 1/4. WITHOUT NOS!

why not use the money you saved by building it with stronger internals and maybe even send it for sleeving while it's out of the car. compression is suitable for turbo, should be a bad *** setup when you're finished. oops, don't forget a stronger clutch...

No need for pistons.
No need to open it up,
Just slap a nice size turbo on it with some engine management and a healthy fuel system and 12's are around the corner. Don't forget the clutch.

Never understood the big deal about the LS motor but oh well, some people like em. I was offered one today for $400 if anyone cares. And there is one in the Integra I was given a couple weeks ago. Its about the only good thing on the car.

sounds like the same thing i did, only remember, you have to replace flexplate with a flywheel, and USE MANUAL bolts.......the auto bolts that mount the flex plate have AT stamped on them, you have to discard these and find MANUAL b-series bolts to bolt the flywheel into place, and use threadlocker

So I should just go turbo with some extra goodies? Fuel rail, injectors,..etc?
Help me out here. I dont plan on dropping this motor in for like a year. I'm going to wrk and get money up, then start workin the motor.

Re: (Quad-Damge)
u can keep it pretty stock and turbo ...but it wont last that long. I would get the sleeves done, then work the pistons and pretty much change everything bottom up. then u can get a 10 s car if u wanna do it ...do it right

Re: (GTlvr82)
I didnt know hondata made turbos. I thought they only sold ecu's built for turbo applications. Wont be soon that I'm putting the motor in anyway. I still need alot of ****. The only thing there is the motor, head and block, motor wire harness. So, I need the basic stuff to get it going first. Clutch assembly, clutch, tranny, ecu for manual trans, wire harness.
Can I use the shift linkage that is on my del sol for the B18?
