Default good setup for ls/vtec?

Hi, everyone im running 99 si stock b16a2 right now and im thinking of dropping an Ls/Vtec b18a1 block with my b16 tranny and b16 head. So I was wondering what would be a good setup to make the Ls/Vtec to gain 200 whp easy. Also do you think i need to change the b16 tranny in order for the ls/ vtec to gain better performance , or will the b16 tranny do just fine?-------------------give any suggestion you like IM a noOb------ need all the help i can get thanks.

dude! you have a b16a2 already. no need to do an ls vtec. i agree with macdelli. that boosting is a better route. more $ and maybe longer wait but you will be happier. you're going to drop your motor and spend close to a G so gain 20 hp - if that.

boosting the b16a will dramatically increase the performance, but it cost too much... with ls/vtec i can get the block around 300- 600 dollar depending on stock piston or not. I just want a descent power between 200 - 260 without spending 2000 dollar or anything. Anyway if im able to get a b18a1 block for about 3-6 bill (depending on piston of course) do u think its worth it?

You're gonna need to build up the block to make it reliable and rev high so add an extra few hundred dollars into that.

i just did this ls vtec thing. now i built mine from the ground up but

if you get an ls for 300 (good price)

you still need like 150 for the golden eagle conversion kit (dont have to get it but it makes it so easy)

gosh you need to get your head machined to get the dowel pins moved to the intake side i think it is so add another 150

you're going to need ... actually i think that is all that i can think of for now. hopefully you will do all the work yourself otherwise throw another 600 at least. and you cant expect more than 200 at best (hp).

to top it off you are putting a block that is only engineered to take 7 grand (redline OEM i believe) and putting it underneath a head that will do 8 OEM.

I get your point.. (<----nooob). so keep the b16a2 and turbo it... how much am i expected to spend? and how many whp can i expect? Oh by the way, I went to visit texas 2 month ago and a friend of mine said his friend at school built a b16 turbo car with 600 whp!? the b16 block can only go 1.8 liter is it possible for it to achieve 600 whp? (remember im a noob if i say anything wrong, there's no need for critisize.... just tryn to learn as much facts as possible)

b16a2 turbo
ls/vtec

i never trusted the reliability of a ls/vtec, tho turbo can be unreliable to but if driving right and tuned good you should have no worries wit boost

sleeve the block, forged interals, stand alone fuel managment, and a big turbo wit big boost, yes 600 whp is possible

i would get someone that knows alot about turbo and get him to help you pick out parts instead of buying a kit
