Girlfriend bounced rev limiter 10 times on my d16y7, smelled bad, any worries?
The engines got 150k on it. I thought it was done for... It seems to still run fine, but should I watch for anything down the road?
Thanks

should be fine...if your car wasn't supposed to do that then honda would've made the rev limiter lower.

Do i have to worry about bent valves or any other damage, or should it be fine?

I bounce off the rev limiter a few times a day. That's what it's there for.

Why was she doing that? I highly doubt it will have hurt anything, but you should teach her to be a bit more gentle in the future. Keep the rough play in the bedroom and out of the throttle

Obviously not, because that would mechanically override the rev limiter.

I just don't understand how someone can hit that rev limiter 10 times and the O.P. didn't explain in detail, his gf's driving (s*cky) style. Literally 10 times? Was this all in one day of driving? Was she just learning how to drive stick? Or was the music too loud and she wasn't paying attention to the tach? Poor car.

Damn.
My engine has 254,000 miles on it and I've had it bouncing off the fuel cut countless times at the track and on the autocross course.
It's a rev limiter. It prevents damage. That's what it's there for.

You're fine, but if you ever bump your revlimiter or flat out remove it, don't let the girl drive.

Well the O.P. also mentioned that it smelled bad in his title. And it's one thing for you hitting the rev limiter as you autocross etc... but if I noticed some regular daily driving kind of person hitting the reve limiter a lot, my thoughts would be that it was due to lousy driving habits rather than calculated sportiness.
Otherwise, while his engine is fine, I might wonder about her wear and tear on his clutch and tranny. No rev matching going on there. *shrug*

no. not if she downshifted over the rev limiter. its okay if she takes it up there n bounces it. but going past it = and the only way u can do that is with a chip/disabled redline or improper downshift.

don't let girls drive your car and you won't have this problem, I hopefully you learned your lesson, otherwise next time maybe Kaboom, and it would take a lot of BJs to make up for that......lol

Eh. I'm a chick and I wouldn't let my bf or my sisters drive my car like that. By the second time they hit the rev limiter (unless they're on an autocross course ) they're out of the driver's seat.

You guys baby your cars too much. The rev limiter is there for a reason, and there is nothing wrong with hitting it (I do it every day). I have no problem handing the keys over to my woman (and yes, she even bounces off the rev limiter at the track sometimes):
