getting 17" rims and dropping enough to fill the fender gap.....question
if i get 17" rims and drop with some coilovers enough to rid of the fender gap. will it still be ok to drive around a fair amount of people? i have a 98 civic ex coupe, so i am wondering after that....can i still drive 5 people in the car. which includes the driver?.....just coilovers, not new shocks or anything.

heres the thing
if you just get coilovers the ride quality may be ***, shocks=good. if you know your cars gonna be everyones ride for the night, before you go out raise it a little. IMO thats the best way to do it.

Re: getting 17" rims and dropping enough to fill the fender gap.....question (KAMiN)
is there a way to raise the coilovers without having to take of the rims?
also, what kind of chance do i have of bottoming out driving a total of 5 ppl including driver with the car lowered to the fender?

Count on bottoming out. Or you get some high *** spring rates and some strong *** shocks. I think that there will be times when you bottom out the car with just you in it.....I've done it and I only dropped 1.5/1.75!!!

i was looking at ground-control coilovers and KYB gas shocks. is that set up good enough to withstand the ppls in the car or will it still bottom out. i dont want to drop over a thousand on apexi or tanabe systems.

That's a tough question to answer - we don't have enough information.
We don't know your driving style, what spring rates & free length you plan on getting, how much you plan on dropping compared to stock, what the roads are like where you live, or how fat your friends are . . .
In other words, too many variables to reliably say, "yes, you will bottom out", or "no, you will not".
I sometimes bottom out on a stock suspension with an empty car.
FWIW.

If your gonna get coilovers and shocks, then seriously consider adjustable shocks. Its a hell of a lot easier to adjust them that it is to raise and lower the coilovers.

this might be a stupid question, but how do u know when u actually bottom out? does the whole car just slam all of the sudden or tires rub or what?
