Default Gas peddle restricter??

Was replacing a fuse on my 99 civic ex today and noticed a small plate welded on the back of the gas peddle about 2-3 inches long and the width of the gas peddle, theres a guy that works for honda on my street i asked him if it would make a diff if i hacked it off, he said he wasnt sure but if i cut it off to make sure the trodle cable was long enough so that it wouldnt snap, any one have this also? or any ideas as to if it makes a diff?? thanks

dont cut it off. get a buddy to sit in your car and floor it (car off) while your looking at the throttle body and notice its wide open so there is absolutly no reason to cut it off unless you wanna mess up your throttle cable and possible throttle body.

Hmm i know on my Hondas they had a spool much like the one on the throttle body so that if you hit full throttle of the throttle body this spring would unwind. You could feel it, it would go from regular pedal firmness and then the secondary spring kicks in and it makes the pedal almost as hard as a clutch pedal ha ha. I think this plate has more to do with keeping the pedal from getting stuck in the carpet than anything.

But like they said, dont' take it off, it won't help anything, and i'ts there for a reason, if when you floor it your not getting a wide open throttle body adjust the cable.
