Gas gauge not reading correctly??
Friend has a del sol and the gas gauge is not reading correctly...it doesnt seem to go down to "E" but he had almost ran out of gas a few times he could tell when the car spudders when goin uphill and the gauge reads close to the "E" part. just trying to get suggestions to see if its a bad cluster or something else he can check.. dont want to have him buy another cluster for nothing...thanks in advance..

Sorry to use your thread for myself, but I was wondering what it means if it does fluctuate a lot....mine does. Mine fluctuates up to .25" on gauge.

Re: Gas gauge not reading correctly?? (97mini-me)
when he is low on gas just take the plastic off of the cluster and move the gauge w/ your finger to E then when you fill up next time it should be good. the gas gauge is weird like that. but in regards to It fluctuating mine does as well in my 88 si. It also cuts out like a son of a bitch but its a wierd cut out, its not like it not getting gas but its not getting any air? its wierd

Im having similar problem as well, but its a litle different then yours
whenever i filled up the whole tank. the needle wont go down until its 1/3 left in the tank, then this 1/3 downs fast. Well, when you race specially, its pretty scary that it looks like "WHOA! i spent half tank of gas for 2 laps"..
I dont know if its the gauge itself..

Same here..
Is there a simple fix for this small problem.
I've been told it could be the ''floater'' in the gas tank..
