jsut to let yall know its so ******* simple my 2 year old nephew could do it.
just un plug and plug back in.
only thing half way dificult is getting out the cruise control plug without breaking it other than that its simple as hell anyone that is thinking about doing it trust me just do it you will be amazed that it takes no effort.

Why would you want to do that? What are the major differences? What do you mean the cruise switch? My cruise switch is mounted on the front dash to the left of the steering wheel. Unless you meant that you changed all of that too.

the difference is that you get a tach in the ex cluster. the dx has no tach

all civic clusters work on any civic (gen specific)...theyre all plug and play

Yup...its just pull and replace...make sure you keep the old one of have the mileage pretty close...close enought that it wouldnt go down the next time you get it looked at (inspected). If you come up with shorter mileage your in for some trouble....and yes the EX tach works in the dx...great mod actually!

I had a Dx cluster and swapped in a Ex cluter with around 25,000 and the cluster works perfect and everything in the cluter works perfect

yae ! my 98 DX cluster swap was simple ! Plug and Play even!
just remove the 2 bolts and pull out the visor cover.
unbolt the 4 bolts holding in the cluster.
pull the cluster out.
pull the plugs from the back of the cluster.
get the new cluster.
plug in the plugs to the new cluster.
screw it the new cluster.
snap in the visor cover.
bolt the 2 bolt for the visor cover back in.
Done !!

Re: FYI: swapped a DX 96+ cluster for a EX 96+ cluster... (trav)
what me and the other guy did because i swapped mine with a friends.
we switched speedometers so he still has his speedometer with his mileage and i have my speedometer with my mileage so really everything but the speedo's were replaced. you just unscrew it and switch it it works fine...
and the reason there is a switch that activates the cruise control light thats the pice i am talking about that he switched

That's only held on by 4 bolts thru the back and you don't have to worry abot odometer fraud or accurate body/engine mileage either. So if your going to do the swap, do the swap the right way and keep your DX speedo in the new doner cluster.

Hell yeah unless you don't want an accuare mileage counter in your car?? Remove the outer plexi glass cover and remove the 2 inner bezels
unhook the cluster lights, turn the cluster over and remove the 4 screws that hold the speedo in place
carefull not to break a needle off the unit and remove, reverse process putting your DXs speedo into the EX cluster. It's the same speedo and size so there won't be and issue.

Some may think this is stupid but i did the exact opposite.. i did dx cluster because i had an autometer
tach (no point of having two tachs)and the cluster was automatic anyway and i did a 5 speed conversion

yah but your car is slow and will never hit that rpm or mph......
Or hit the rev limiter before the indicated 8000+ rpm redline.
