im not sure why yours is blowing, but on my 93 hatch i had my deck stolen a little while back. the wires were left exposed and i was too lazy to tape em up or get a new deck so i just left em. one night i was driving to work and one of the wires touched some metal or another wire in my dash. there was a big *** spark/flash that lit up my whole dash inside and all my lights went out. headlights, tailights, parking lights, instrument panel lights, and dash lights. i guess i blew my instrument panel/dash fuse. i replaced the fuse with a backup and hasn't happened since though.

If I read this correctly this would be the #15 fuse. A 10a "back-up light" fuse? So Spedo, tach etc. don't work. Along with the directionals correct?

I believe my temp guage is shot, however I have not verified if it is just a short in the wire yet but I know it isn't the guage sending unit. I don't think my alternator is the problem but I have a 150a max output, 90a at idle alternator. Maybe that additional output is ****** with mine. Hopefully I will feigure this out so I can help. I don't think it could be in the cable reel since wipers and headlights still work along with the horn. Someone correct me if they know what is actually is. BTW I have a Viper 2way alarm and an aftermarket stereo as well. However I am very OCD when it comes to wiring so I know there isn't anything loose on that end that would be causing this... We'll all work through this **** together...

Re: Fuse for instrument cluster keeps blowing, short? (Kaoticeg6)
If your fuse blows you either have a short to ground or a circuit that is drawing more amperage than the fuse is set for. If the fuse blows right away it is usually a short to ground. shorts are hard to find, but check with the wiring diagram and start disconecting wires in the circuit until the problem goes away. The best way to see if the short and or draw has gone away is to have a amperage meter connected to the fuse block. However do not keep the amperage meter connected the entire time or wires will start melting. If you dont have an amperage meter you will end up buying a lot of fuses and installing them every time that you disconect a wire or a consumer in the circuit.
