Full B20 in EG Hatch
Im dropping a full b20 out of a 00 crv in my eg hatch this week and wanted to know if anyone has done this and what steps they took to building this thing without a vtec head. I understand the b20 lacks major power in top end without the head but at the moment its almost impossible to find a good head where im from that hasnt been beat on and will cost me my *****, thanx for your help

honestly, if you want to build it, i would just save up and wait for a good deal on a head. maybe buy a good header, it really depends on your plans, if you want buy a set of pistons, unless you plan on keeping the block stock. either way just save the money and buy the head, because you will not regret it.

I believe you cant use the stock B20 tranny anyway. There is no real point in building it without a VTEC head. B20 VTEC makes good power, without a VTEC head you wont be making top end power ever.

even if you put cams in it it really wont make any good high end power. The head is built to flow for low end power. And high end power without VTEC = useless. B20 VTEC will just be better all around. You will keep the lower end TQ that you get from the longer stroke and you will get high end power from the high end flowing head and VTEC.

you can go ahead and get a nice header, then once you get the head, it'll bolt right on.
i drove a b20z for about 3 months before doing a vtec head

if your going to throw a vtec head on a stock b20 block i highly reccomend staying out of high rpms unless you throw a set of arp rod bolts in. b20's were not built stock to turn 8k like all the other dohc vtec motors out there.

as long as he keeps it around the stock B20 redline it will be fine.

You will also need a GSR or B16 oil pump if you want to take it pretty high. Although I would say with ARP bolts it would probably be safe to like 7500 (with a B series VTEC oil pump aswell)
