Ask the car manufacturer what you think about cleaning additives.

Well then why does it say on the bottle to feed it through a vacuum line? I'm sure they had done extensive testing on the product before they marketed it. And all these other people don't seem to have a problem. I'm not challenging you, I'm just trying to decide whether it would be safe to put it in my car.

What can happen is if there's a lot of sludge and old caked on burnt oil in the engine seafoam will break down and dislodge it. It can then end up floating around and plug up oiling passages. If you don't have a lot of sludge you don't really need seafoam, if you do have a lot of sludge you probably shouldn't use seafoam. I can't really see a good reason to use it.

What more do you need to know? About all that can be said about seafoam has already been stated here.

If you're stuck on choosing which one to use, you should or could just experiment all the listed above one-by-one. It never hurts to try it and find your own answer because everyone has a different experience.

I think my initial scare of SeaFoam has subsided. I will commence with the festivities next weekend. If my engine is destroyed, I hold all of you responsible though... ha ha just kidding!

Seafoam is currently on sale at Advance Auto Parts for $7.99 a can. I'm sure the salespeople will be very eager to sell it to you as it is the customer item of the month. And they may be calculating those item of the month sales as a basis of employment for said salesperson. Trust me, I work there..

...and exactly what are you trying to say? This sounds like some sort of back door, under the table bait and switch to me... except I'm the one choosing to use the product, not the sales representative. And I'm buying mine from Wal-Mart, it's the cheapest around here. Cheaper than AutoZone..

Just stating that its on sale and is good stuff. I've ran it threw the oil, gas tank, and vacuum lines when I bought my 98 EX last May, no issues. Plenty of old carbon buildup exiting via the exhaust.

******UPDATE******

Over the weekend I used SeaFoam in my engine. The smoke that was produced was tremendous. After letting it sit for 5 minutes I took it on a "spirited drive" to burn out the crap in the motor. Boy I sure smoked out the roads, and I'm surprised I didn't get pulled over. It seems to have helped my occasional fluctuating idle on warm starts and I haven't had a breakdown yet so I am quite happy!

I did the same this weekend. Your engine will thank you if you blast out all the oily black residue that builds up in your intake/throttle body/IACV with intake cleaner.

Despite the clear violations against legality and safety I've thought about implementing a seafoam drip into my intake to produce a smoke screen for people that like to ride my ***.

I prefer 'Restore' brand 'Fuel System Restorer'
By far my favorite furl system cleaner. I use one every 3-4k miles or so.

I know it won't be as magnificent the second time, but I'm gonna be seeing my younger cousins tomorrow and I wanna buy another can of seafoam so I can run it through the intake again and smoke stuff out. They always look up to me (I'm the oldest child in my generation, 19, and second is my younger sister, 12)

Gumout complete fuel system treatment with "Regane"

Thats the ****.

It has that PTE stuff in it..

Most additives are snake oil, but those $12-14 bottles of stuff from gumout work..

Pop the top off the bottle and have a whiff... It smells like no other... Yuck.
