That's what I've been told by several people. When I was going to replace mine they told me not to.
Edit: Just called my local Acura dealer, the tech I talked to said the OE filters for 97-00 civics are supposed to last 200k+
He said he's never changed one.
But maybe he/my sources are wrong.
The ASE tech I got my inspection done with in Phoenix told me civic fuel filters are good for the life of the car too. That was when I asked him If I should replace it anyway.

I don't have my manual unfortuneately. I browse my haynes and see what It says, because I could have sworn it was 30-40k.

The fuel filter replacement is an interesting subject. My understanding is indeed that Honda does not specify a replacement interval, and it is likely only ever serviced at a dealership if it is found to be causing a significant problem. That being said, it's not very expensive or difficult to replace, and many people seem to experience positive results by replacing an ageing or otherwise dirty filter. As far as how often it should be changed to take advantage of these benefits, it's difficult to say. However, 30,000 miles probably isn't unreasonable.

i've changed mine twice... but i got gas at a store and put gas in a gas can for my lawn mower and it had all kinds of **** in it so i syphoned it all out of my tank and changed my filter.... the first time i just changed it cause i swapped motors

Honda is feeding a bunch of BS on this subject.
I've changed multiple filters on vehicles with about 140k on the clock, and there was gunk coming out of the filter each time.
if you feel like changing it, or the filter has many miles on it, do yourself a favor and change it. your pocketbook and car will thank you.

Who are the OEM fuel filters made by? Can you buy it from a store other than the dealer? At the dealer it's $44 for a freakin fuel filter.

2 issues:
1. majestic honda does not ship to canada
2. there is no autozone in canada
I want to put OEM filter and that's why I need the brand name(if there is one)so I can go to parts source and buy it and save some money.

I think http://www.hondapartsdeals.com does ship to canada, you're right, majestic doesnt.
I know one of the online parts dealers does. Try that one.

Just seems weird or dumb.. All of the cars that HAVE to have their fuel filters replaced have the filter hidden behind the tank, but supposedly we arent supposed to change ours so they just neatly place it in the engine bay with super easy access and no hoses to rip or pull off? Just unscrew and they come off nicely. Anyway I change mine every year reguardless that way I KNOW my fuel filter will NEVER be the cause of any problem.... It's 12 bucks at advance auto parts... It doesn't hurt
