fu********** DAMN D SERIES!!!
So i was running a T25 turbo on my stock d16y8, tonight i threw a rod and my engine is fucked up! i dont even know where the piston ended up! So my question for all of HT is what to do next. sorry for the open ended question but i am in such a state of shock (if you will). i want to replace my d series wiht something i can still boost, but do i get a stock d series and throw some new rods, and pistons in it, or do i find a DOCH or what!!! i know its very open ended, but please any suggestions would really help

Dude, I know how you feel....sorta. I threw a rod on a stock d-series. Only difference is I couldn't even afford the new y8 so I'm on a payment plan with my mom. But anyways, If you got some time and some cash I would definately go ls/vtec. That motor is just beggin to be boosted.

Re: (celtic11)
ya, well i figure that anyway i do it if i want boost i need rods, and proabably pistons, and labor for motor install will be a bitch no matter what...right?

Well how much boost do you want to run. If you want to run 25 lbs. on stock internals then you better get used to throwing rods. You would be perfectly fine with 6-8 lbs. on stock internals..

Re: (celtic11)
well it was running 11 lbs, but i was told no prob, being such a small turbo. but i dont know its just i want something that will put out some good power, but that is reliable...whats a good motor, that will hold some boost if i throw in some pistons and rods......thats a reasonable price

Re: (userdead626)
like i said it was probably the tune, street tuned with uberdata, was it done with a wideband? i know it sounds like a dumb question but you never know. Breaking a rod on 11psi from a t25 on a good tune is nowhere outside of the compressive strength of teh d16 rods...

also i believe everyone has stated in other threads dealing with d series turbos, always say that 10 psi is pushing it.. and as stated previously stated the y series of the d's a re trash and have a oil consumption problem.
But to answer your question, build another d series. like a z6 block, y8 head, yada yada yada...

Why are you damning the D-series? It's your own fault you blew it up.
Get another cheap D-series and build it. How would you have felt if you had blown a B16 that cost twice as much?

All motors have a limit and you obviously went over it. most people will tell you that no more than 6 psi on a fmu and no tuning. 11 was pushing it.
I would go and get another d series and make sure that you tune it properly before boosting that way you can enjoy the hard work that you put into it. you dont need a "DOCH" sounds like douche motor to make power. btw its DOHC
goodluck and sorry bout your motor, I have done it before also its kinda exciting though.
and to the guy running 17 psi on a stock motor. If thats for real than way to go, but doesnt the oil pumps on those motors go kinda easy if I am not mistaken???

Screw the Damed-Series, I blew my Z6 up on 8 PSI, rebuilt it an threw a rod out the side just breaking it in on NO boost. Just get a B18 swap and either boost or go all motor with an LS/VTEC

Re: fu********** DAMN D SERIES!!! (1dumbassscreenname)
well thanks for all the help, sorry for the comments everyone, i am just kinda upset i am only 17 years old as you can probably tell from my lack of knowladge. I am looking into some type of b series, maybe an ls/vtec, but its a lota work, and i dont really feel comfortable doing it.... other than this what type of b series would be good for a turbo? something with somewhat low compression

For the cost, get a new D-shortblock, itll be cheaper. The D-seriesness isnt the problem, you overboosted. Honda motors werent meant to take a shitload of boost, stock. If ya had new headstuds, upgraded rods and pistons, all that good ****, u can take a lot of boost, **** Ive seen 30psi of boost on a D16Y7 block. The block itself was stock, so was the head, but none of the internals were.

Re: fu********** DAMN D SERIES!!! (userdead626)
considering you already have a d series turbo kit, i say pick up another d. They are extremely inexpensive, and if it was enough power for you just get another one.
