well i tried lowering the back of my car (EG) but the bolts didn't seem to want to come out!! i even tried the air compress. gun to loosen it and even sprayed hella wd-40..dont know why it wont come loose. any help would be great..i need to take it off!

??? wha? theres a welded nut? never knew that but im pretty sure its not that one because its the bolt that goes through the bottom of the strut and lower arm...

ya just make sure you are taking off the right side (bolt not the nut) and when i did mine i had to use a screwdriver or a punch to push the bolt out after i was out of threads.

Just to give you the heads up .....Go and buy new bushings!!!!!...
They ARE going to break and you will have to press(or beat and cut ) to get them out
It happened on the rears to 3 of my cars b4...NOT fun.

go out and get a new lca bolt. before you do anything. make sure you have a drill or bolt out or something because the head of that bolt will snap.

have fun drilling it out and make sure you have time because its a PITA.

Are you just installing springs or are you putting new struts in to? Cause if your just installing springs you dont really need to take out the rear struts to get the springs on.

I had the same problem with my car. This is if you get desperate. Take a spring compressor and take the bolt off of the strut. Then there are 2 bolts that are inside and near the top of the wheel well that you can take out. You will have enough room to get the strut out if you push down on the drum and then pull the strut outside of the wheel well. Then you can take the spring off without removing the strut.

^^^this is true,makes it much easier, but i would replace the bolts, bushings anyways

Drugs are bad. The spings are on the struts.

Make sure its not some propane torch cause it wont get hot enough. You'll have to find one with astelyne(spelling?) and oxygen.

yea you pretty much might as wheel buy some used ones from the junk yard. i got two in perfect condition for 70 at my junk yard.. and i also replaced the struts also.. so i was in luck.. and make sure to use anti seize on your bolts. ESPECIALLY ON THE SPLINED PARTS. If not you can get bushings but its not worth it in my book. plus it can cost alot.. say 17 dollar per bushing and someone with torch or press to press out then in. And normally (around here atleast) they charge like 30-45 to press. I found that it is much easier to buy used ones, and then replace the bushing in the old ones and sell them. hope that helps

Best way to do it with out breaking heads. I ended up buying new lca and wished I could've done it this way.

Or you could do it the conventional way, heat those bolts up real hot and toruge it out, carefully.

I've broken that damn bolt before too, but I've also tried dropping the LCA off the frame first to relieve the pressure. Sometimes the middle bolt comes out a little easier.

what also works is if you want to break it free, torch is and then pour water on it, the difference in expansion contraqction usually will break the rust then you should be able to take them off, still be careful

Be careful you dont break it off, altho it happens alot. Happened to me a few times It just kept spinning lol.

WAIT DO NOT TRY TO TAKE IT OUT YET!!!! spray it with pb blaster every 6 hours then let is stay overnight. then the next morning spray it again. then that after noon go for it. my first time swapping suspensiong i snapped 2 bolts. the second time with the pb blaster i snapped non. came out easy faster job.

Once you get them out, replace all those bolts w/ new ones ( http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com ) and use antiseize on the smooth parts of the bolts when reasembling (The bolts rust to the inside of the bushings). You shouldn't have this problem again...

pb blaster? wtf? never heard of that. but yeah i just broke the bolt, lol it got me pissed and it still wont come off! i tried all other bolts around it. they still wont come off either! if this gets too hard for me then ill just get me a new one.
