Front Right Blinker Not Working
Notes below.
VEHICLE:
No Lights On:
TO DO:
VEHICLE:
- 1993 Honda Civic del Sol S
- No upgraded lights/stock halogens all around
- Right front blinker does NOT blink
- Replaced bulbs
- Cleaned contacts
- Replaced Fuse (7.5 AMP) - Read that could be a quick fix
- I was thinking it was the bulb socket/assembly, so I switched out the left and the right bulb socket/assembly, and the issue is still happening on the right front blinker
No Lights On:
- Left front blinker works when activated
- Left rear blinker works when activated
- Right front blinker does NOT work when activated
- Right rear blinker blinks FAST when activated
- Left front blinker does not work
- Left rear blinker does not work
- Right blinker does not work
- Right rear blinker blinks FAST
- Works when the lights are OFF
- Does NOT work when the lights are ON
TO DO:
- Figure out where grounds are
- See if anything is loose behind cluster

Re: Front Right Blinker Not Working
Be sure the proper type of bulb is installed.
The blinker relay senses the current going to the bulbs. It is designed to blink fast when the current is abnormally low, to warn you that one of the bulbs is not working.
It's bad wires (especially the ground wire) or ground directly at the right front bulb. I think the ground from the bulb socket goes to a ground point on the fender under the hood nearby. Do not tear in to the dash.
The shell of the bulb should have nearly zero volts measured to battery (-) when you turn the lights or the blinker on. If you see voltage there, the bulb is not grounded. Also if you see the small filament in the bulb lighting up for the hazards or blinker instead of the big one like it should, that is almost always a ground problem.

Re: Front Right Blinker Not Working
Thank you for the response.
I just checked the manufacturer's website, the bulbs I have are good. Some additional info:
When the Left blinker is blinking, some of the other lights in the cabin controls light up. For example, some of the "fan" settings blink.
I did notice that one of the wires of the front right was a little lose. The wire is the one that connects from the bulb housing to the electrical harness.
Lastly, how do I check grounds? This will be my frist time doing this and I don't have a multimeter.
EDIT: I was just about to tear into the dash

Re: Front Right Blinker Not Working
Yes your front right bulb is not grounded. This lets current from the blinker circuit feed across into the parking light circuit, which also goes to the dash lights, etc.
If there's a part that is clearly corroded, loose, or broken you would need to replace it. I think the ground wire is black but not sure about that. It goes through the harness for a short distance to a grounding block that is bolted to the fender. Since you can't see electricity, a meter is very useful to find the exact problem.
