fresh swap and im **** out of luck...any help?
ok,im not a proffesional mechanic and i need some help. Last night i let my 17 year old brother drive my gsr eg hatch to learn stick. first 30 min or so he did fine so i let him drive it onthe highway. another 20 min went by and i told him to open it up a lil to feel the car out a bit. something went wrong when he shifted. he must of down shifted to 2nd instead of 4th and over rev'd the **** out the car.. we pulled over because he couldnt put the car back into gear. in the shoulder we switched and i drove it. it was hard to shift at first and the motor would completey die without gas. when i pulled off the shoulder and it ran strong but the linkage seemed different and it was hard to go into gear. we barely got home..i cruised 5th gear bc over 60-65 mph the car vibrated like crazy. the car runs strong as hell still but vibrates like crazy and i think i hear something in the collector pipe rattling. i dont know where to start... i paid alot to do the swap and tired of paying people to *** my **** up. im gonna try to diagnose this myself..any help?
Thanks
Thanks

wash your mouth out with soap young man...
you need to take off the valve cover and check all the valves. check your shift linkage. you needs to get under that chariot and inspect the everything

i bet you are frustrated. cars are the worst investment and will make you pull out your beard hair
when you take off the valve cover. all the valves have an arm attached to them. it depends on how your timing is. some valves will be up, some will be down. check tension on them the should tick and move jussss a tad by grabbing the arm and moving it up and down. check for pieces of metal and pull out your spark plugs, with a good flash light look down to each piston and check for...dents.. if so...your head needs pulled off then go from there. sorry dude. crap happens. good luck

also one more symptom i forgot to tell you was that its takes a couple turns to start then doesn't even try to stay on. its drivable and has power but as soon as i get off the gas it just dies... does not shake or rumble or anything rpms just drop.

it's possible the belt jumped. bent valves won't chip and the machined hone marks are from the head being made.
check plug wires and simple stuff like that, if it was running really rough and slow you might have been missing a cylinder.

same thing... car runs like crap... i think it may be in limp mode bc of the lack of 02 sensors.i thought it was runnign rich bc of the sensors it might be reading safe mode maps to not cause damage. what i dont understand is why was it running good before it was over revd?
im also gonna clean my iac valve..

It's very likely that you had some piston-to-valve contact when the engine was overrevved. You really need to run a compression test in every cylinder and check the cam timing before you proceed any further. If you have a bent valve, looking elsewhere for problems is just pissing into the wind.

in for compression numbers, also like stated before check your timing marks with cylinder 1 at TDC make sure they are all lined up. if your timing marks are off your compression readings will be off. if your timing marks are off, you're probably ****ed anyhow.
