Finding a hatch is impossible!!!!
As you all may or may not know, i have been looking for a 92-95 CX VX or DX hatch for some time now and i'm just starting to get super frustrated.
I have posted on every site imaginable, click reload on Autotrader every 5 seconds, and search the local papers like mad. Nothing. I'm about to just give up and buy a sedan or DX coupe. Seems like nobody wants them.
Well what i want to know is where, when, and how did you finally find / get your hatch? Maybe hearing some of your stories will encourage me to keep searching...

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (JV)
yea, EG hatchbacks here are hard to find too. if there is one for sale its either priced really high, been stolen, been in a wreck, etc. it's common to see an EG hatchback for sale for over $6000 where i live. i guess it's just party of that supply and demand crap

I found my CX 750 miles away on Auto Trader.
It was the first one listed on Auto Trader.com under the "no mileage" restriction.
Just don't settle for anything less than what you're looking for.
I'm not ripping on any of you coupe guys here, but I've seen a lot of guys looking specifically for hatches and then settled for a coupe instead. Those same guys later regretted the decision and still ended up looking for a hatch.

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (JV)
I got mine last year, right after I totaled my 2000 Celica. I just went to inline pro and asked. They happened to have one w/no engine in it. So I bought it and then paid them to put an engine in it for me. It was easy. There are more hatches out there. just ask local shops. I'm sure they know someone that's getting rid of one. Hang in there, you'll find one.

i agree with tom...
i mean, i settled for a 94 si hatch even though i had actually wanted a 96+ hatch...
now all i do is crave for a 96+ hatch...
everytime i see one, i think about selling my eg and buying an ek...
dont get me wrong, my eg is pretty nice and ive done a lot with it in 4 months...
but it just doesnt do me the justice an ek wouldve

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (pennies_hatchie)
i actually wasn't looking for mine, it kinda fell in my lap lol. I had a 5 speed 5th gen accord which i was selling, wasn't sure what I wanted next. I said **** it, i'll get a daily driver and build my 71 240z. A friend of mine worked at a dealer, and he told me he bought a 92 civic cx with 99k for $350, as the interior was scratced up, and it had a leaking headgasket. I sold the Accord on ebay after 2 days for the "buy it now" price. I bought the Civic from him for $800, that way he makes money, and I still save a lot. Needed incentive to make him sell it lol. Well I'm getting sick of pouring oil and coolant in it every 5 seconds.
all i'm gonna say is my h22a in eg motor mounts in my bedroom
and yes the 240z is still getting done, it'll just take longer, I'm hoping this summer. MMMMMMM, rb26dett 240z

I looked for 1 week and found the perfect hatch. Owned by some older guy who didnt know crap about cars and let the dealer take care of everything. He wanted to call AAA when i told him his tire was a little flat. lol... below blue book too

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (owen_the_soyboy)
Im not sure if anyone has suggested this yet but my advice is to go to an auction. Its kinda against the rules for non-dealers to go in there but its pretty easy to find someone at the entrance that will buy the car for you if you ask enough people. I got my CX in good condition with 185,XXX for $1100 + $250 (dealer fee). My friend got his '90 CRX for $800 + $150 (df). Of course Im from New England where these kind of cars aren't nearly as sought after as in CA or other parts of the country. Thats my .02

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (CXHatchback)
When I used to work at Honda we had one come in with 150,000 miles on it and a fender that had 2 drill holes in it. I bought that one for $1,200. I am buying a decent 93 hatch next week for $1,500 that has, exhaust, intake, midwing, header, and lowered already.

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (CXHatchback)
Well, about a year ago, I purchased and shipped a '92 GSR from the east coast to my home in Colorado. The car was awesome, but I was ripped off on parts for it, it was vandalized, and it proved to be a hassle. I started looking for a hatch one weekend and almost bought an ek that weekend, until someone at my mom's works started talking about selling his '95 cx with 85,000 miles. All he did was commute to work in it - I don't even think anyone rode in the passenger seat. I sold my GSR, and two days later was driving the eg. Just a lucky break I guess. Keep looking, one will pop up.

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (h45454)
I found my hatch by random chance. The hatch that I had wanted for a long time always sat on my friends street and never moved. Well, I had never had a need to pursue this car(even though it wasn't technically for sale). Well, when i got in my accident with my 4door and it was totaled, I said "oh what the hell" and I left a note on the hatchback. Next day I get a call and the guy was like "I havent put it up for sale yet...but its yours if you want it"! A week later I was the proud of a 1992 Si Hatchback

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (h45454)
I don't know about the hard to find situation but when i wanted a Hatch i went to a Dealer in my neigbourhood and he had a DX with 78,000 and i bought it for $1800. He even gave me a free CARFAX with the car just to make me comfortable.
I guess i got lucky, cause i felt like buying one and the same evening had one.
