Finally got a p08 for my d15b
whats the procedure in installing a new ecu besides plugging it in? i got the ecu yesterday and got home from work and put it on to see what would happen.Right away the idle dropped really low to maybe 300-400 and was staying there.I thought maybe i should let the car sit and take in the new info but instead i hit the throttle just a bit and the idle returned to normal(850-900 also note that i had just got home from work and the car was warm).I let the car sit for a while and decided to take it for a drive felt a bit different as far as throttle response. So anyways i drive to my friends house and stay there for maybe 4 hours or so and when its time for me to leave(p08 is still installed)i start the car and the idle was very low again so i took it out and put in my p28 and drove home. Can anyone help me?

i dunno then... i know my friends ef with a d15b vtec running a p08 is running a 4wire and is not throwing codes either... i dont understand how it's even running right. i did the wiring and it's got an obd1 conversion that is set to run a p28, which means 4wire, but the ecu needs a 1wire. cars are confusing.

It can be converted to 4 wire o2:

when i went from my 5 wire P07 ECU, and went to a P28 4 wire o2... the idle was really high..
once i get the O2 squared away, and fired it up, i screwed the vacumm advance screw on teh TB all the way in, and adjusted the TB butterfly plate to bring up the idle.. ever since then, its been sex all the time.

vacuum advance screw eh? screw it in and it raises your idle and gets rid of the electronic ignition advance.. must be JDM

Mess with the IACV a little that might be your problem. Also you shouldnt have a problem with the o2 theres many on here that dont have a problem running a 4 wire on at p08.
