a few EM1 q's
what up all
Ive recently noticed on the last few fill ups that im only averaging about 22mpg 80/20 city/hwy driving.
the si apparantley has a 11.9 gallon tank and im around or at 260 before i need to fill up. That's shitty. i was up near 320mi/tank on the teg.
should i be concerned with this gas mileage?
i recently bought the car at 68k mi
i have plans to swap out for new plugs/wires...any suggestions?
I also want to change the fuel filter, where is it on the EM1?
any other suggestions for maintance at this time def appreciated
and if anyone knows of a good "civic" specific website much like http://www.team-integra.net that would be great.
thanks
peace

Re: a few EM1 q's (94ls)
I would definitly change out the following things...
air filter
fuel filter
spark plugs (gap them!)
NGK blue spark plug wires
new distributor cap & rotor

NGK BKR711. There like $10-13 for a set of four. They provide excellent spark and power but I change them out every 30k miles.

where do you live? In the middle of winter you can expect lower gas mileage if it's freezing out. Colder air contains more oxygen. The engine's sensors detect that in the exhaust and compensate by dumping more fuel into the mix.
I lived in North Dakota for a few years and f I remember right, in the winter my gas mileage dropped down to about 20mpg or so. Then when it started to get warmer out it went back to 28-30.
But like somebody already mentioned, new cap/rotor, new wires, plugs, change tranny fluid.

also in a cold climate you tend to "warm up" your car for several minutes before you actually drive it. who wants to drive in 10 degrees if inside your car is 10 degrees... which will waste mad gas
