Fan does not come on 1998 civic EX
I checked it out a couple days a go and my fan wont come one. Would the Thermostat switch cause this? i check the fuses related to the fan as well as the relays and they all seem to be fine. The car has ran hot before and over heated a coulpe times so im wondering if this would render the switch useless?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Is the engine overheating? If so, under what conditions?
Fan switch:
Unplug the 2P connector to the fan switch on the thermostat housing and then short the two terminals in the wire harness connector with a jumper wire. With the key in ON(II), does the fan now run continuously? If so, you may need a new switch or the cooling system needs to be bled.

Did what you suggested with the jumper wire on the connector to the fan switch. It turns on when i jump it but does not when plugged in. I replaced the Fan switch and still nothing. Car hasnt over heated but still curious as to why the fan wont come one. I installed a OEM T-stat as well.

Bleeding may take 20-30 minutes:
1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.
2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.
3) Follow the directions in the diagram below

well if it still doesnt come on it could be the temp switch. Mine went out aswell so I just jumped it, its been jumped for years now with no issues. Just get a insulated wire and plug it into the plug, and then cover it with electrical tape and put it somewhere. Maybe one day I'll replace it lol

lol i must be too tired today to realize ****. It wouldn't make sense that it doesn't come on unless there is a abundance of trash built up inside of the coolant system that is somehow preventing it from working :/

Re: Fan does not come on 1998 civic EX
Thanks for all the info guys! The temp switch is the one that tells me how hot my egine is yes? The fan switch it a whole diffrent switch yes? if so i just replaced the fan switch located at the thermostat housing. im gonna drive the car some more today to see what happpens with the engine temps. I really dont want to re-do the headgasket. If so im gonna do a Vtec head swap as the original motor was a y8 but now it has a non vtec D15b.
