fabricating seat brackets?
any of you guys ever fabricate your own seat brackets to mount aftermarket seats? please share i need help. the seats I bought are universal mounting but they dont line up so i need to make new brakets up. or is there somewhere i can already buy a kit for mounting them. they already come with sliders and all but they're too narrow.

im guessing from the fact that the rails are too narrow that only one side (two bolt holes) line up correctly. you can probably cut a piece of flat steel and weld it to the rails to extend the holes on the side that doesn't line up. i did this when i put gsr front seats in my EJ8 so all 4 corners are mounted solid, they've held up for 3+ years without a problem.

If at least the metal tabs cover the holes, you can get a machine shop to drill them out for you. That is if you do not weaken the integrity of the tabs. If you can drill them out with the electric drills you got at home, then the rails aren't safe.
I say it's best to get car specific rails, they aren't that expensive and they are safer than messing with universal seat rails.

I had recaro srd's in my 00 si and i fabricated the brackets. I got a buddy of mine to drill the holes out so they would line up than i screwed the seats up than i installed them. the only problem i came across was then trying to get them screwed into the floor board. We had to bend the bracket a little bit but I'm sure there's easier ways of getting around all of this stuff.
