Which exhaust gains the most
Okay guys, I know this topic is beaten to death, like "which one is the best" and usually people say, "it depends on what you want" Well my main initiative is power gain, my car is gutless and I want a little more kick. Now I know some will say "exhaust don't give you that much gain" well in that case then, which exhaust gains the most then? I don't care about loud or quiet, I tried to search for dyno sheets, but no luck. Are there anyone that acutally have seen or done dynos themselves to back up their statements about which one is the best. Thank you all..

Flat out, it would probably be a 2.25 or 2.5 inch straight pipe with a small resinator or a straight through muffler, I.E. the new Skunk2(RSR) without the baffle in. For an N/A app.

Re: Which exhaust gains the most (brokstar)
No exhaust gains the most if thats what you want...J/k...The exhaust that will gain most will consist of a straight through pipe, and muffler..for example...a full cat-back Apexi N1 or a Tanabe RM will do the trick...No too loud either.. Exhausts only give high end power though...so it really doesnt matter...youll gain 2+ whp...
acually...the best exhausts are the loudest ones...

All exhaust, as long as the piping diameter is the same size, will perform the same. And dont worry about the resonator robbing some hp, becuase I've seen dyno charts where the resonator actually GAINED hp somehow. And about that "straight through" design bs, dont bother about it. There is only one path the exhaust piping can go so all exhaust systems follow that same path.

I still maintain the most of the gain felt by installing an aftermarket exhaust is psychological. It sounds louder and makes you feel like you've got more power. If you're doing it for looks or sound, or because you're building a high-power setup then fine...
$500 is a lot to spend to try to get 2 more HP out of a DX,CX,etc though...

you don't need back pressure. Thats an old misconception. low back pressur edoesn't rob horsepower. But if you don't want your exhaust to backfire every time you shift then thats different.

Re: Which exhaust gains the most (1 FAST R)
Yeh but anyone can make as much HP as Hytech, they forget to mention that their header kit consist of a 2.5" cat and cat-back exhaust. Add an ITR header, a 2.5" cat and a nice exhaust and you have just as much power as Hytech! Hytech is over-hyped.

who does good custom piping?
of my cars. They bend the pipe just like the stock pipe, I barely
have any crush bends.
