Is an EX ecm needed for vtec?
i have found out that the ecm in my 96 honda civic ex is actually for a dx. i am new to honda and relatively new to some more major mechanical stuff other than the oil change and brake stuff. anyway my question is that from the things i read is that the ex is a vtec engine where as the dx is not. so does that interfere with the timeing of the ignition and when the vtec is supposed to "kick-in" my reason is that my car is an automatic and when it hits 5000rpm it just kinda sits there and wont go any higher mabye a 100 rpm or so. thoughts answers are greatly appreciated!

Re: quick question about ecm?
yes it is a vtec engine and yes i have codes witch one is for the downflow o2 sensor, work in progress(funds), so my concerns are confirmed! will this also effect my MPG? i know the o2 sensor is affecting it, but just wondering if having the wrong ecm will affect it too? thanks for all the help!
