Engines for 95 DX?
I have a 95 DX sedan(manual tranny) and 105 hp just isnt quick enough. A vtec b-series swap isn't within my skills right now. I searched, but the ideas were all over the place.I was thinking of doing one of the following:
1.JDM D15B VTEC
2. USDM D16Y8
3. rebulding a USDM B18B non-vtec and then using that
Any thoughts on prices, ease of installation, etc. ? I know I'd need a tranny for the B18, but could I keep my tranny with the D-series engines?
Let the flaming of the newb begin

The D series tranny will work with other D series blocks.
How is it that you say you don't have the skills to do a B series vtec swap, but your #3 option is to build a B18?
I would suggest boosting the motor you already have.

I have a JDM D15B. As far as D series go, it has the highest HP. +5 HP over the D16Z6 which is .1 displacement bigger. I got mine for $700 with tranny from hmotorsonline, and it runs pretty well.

thanks for the quick responses everyone. Trial User, yeah youre right, that wasnt a shining moment for my intelligence. Doing the fitting to get any b-series in my car is a long shot.I'm also trying to stay all motor, so I'm not really looking at turbos for now. Good suggestion though. Chronic, I have found D15B's cheaper online, but with cut harnesses, did yours come complete or cut? Is buying one a "you get what you pay for" kinda thing? Monkey, what kind of numbers could I expect from that setup, and what would it cost? EF9, I'd be interested, but honestly, I'll prob take a few months to save the cash and find the time to do this. I'll try and PM you about it. Thanks again all for the help.
