engine swap problems

Default engine swap problems

i just swapped a 1992 civic si in to my 1990 civic dx, and when i try to start the engine, it wont start... the motor turns but it wont catch, I checked the timing belt and its perfect, so i have no idea what else it could be... im still using the distributor from the 1990 dx engine, could this be why, please help me out, thanks

which intake manifold are you using?
Unless you are using the stock (TBI) manifold the distributor wont work with it- it doesn't have a cyl sensor.

check the distrutor cap an see if it is pointing to #1 spark plug. also check the wiring harness........... just take off the dristrubor cap an make sure the turnie thing is pointing towards where i said

im using the dx intake manifold, cuz im not hooking up the vtec, i just put in the block, and head, its just a winter car so im not wasting money on it


the block and head are 1992 si
everything else is 1990 dx

Yea there could be a couple of things since it is turning over i would check and make sure you rotor is moving in your distrbutor,also i would check and see if you are getting spark through the plug wires,easy way to do it is to pull the spark plug out and ground in on your exhaust manifold and see if you get spark and if those things are working,then i would check your fuel system and make you are getting fuel because that could be a big part of it too,if all of those things check out i then would check and make sure you have it timed right.

1) air

2) fuel
