Car-92 honda civic si
engine possibilities...
b16a2
b16 (out of ctr)
b18(out of gsr)
b18c5
Now here are the questions...
1.When i swap the motor in, if it is a jdm motor, will i be able to use the jdm harness and ecu? or will i have to tote around on the factory d16z6 until i can get a computer upgrade? ( my love and joy before honda was Rx-7s and a jdm required a usdm harness or to extend the jdm harness)
2. Will it mate up to my current exhaust or will i have to have a custom cat pipe made?
3. What are any complications that i might run into... murphys law is always in effect when working on cars(I know i turn wrenches on Mercedes-Benz's for a living)?
4. How fast will my car?(i.e.-quarter mile times.. be a pessimist)
5. As far as upgrades go, the car will not get a turbo, as i will drive this car everyday as i do right now. What kinda gains would i get with cams and cam gears...I really dont want to pull apart the bottom end to make power?
6. I cant think of anything else.
Peace thanks and kudo's to ricerton,

You should be able to pull 13's with a b18c in a stripped hatch.
Really the only honda/acura motor that responds to bolts ons well would be K-series k20a(jdm) k20a2(usdm) not 100% sure on the engine codes.
Just an example:
You put a cold air intake on your swap lets say b18c5 you pull maybe 5-7 hp
You put a cold air intake on your k-series engine and you'll see a hell of a lot better difference.
If your wanting something that responds to bolt ons well go with k-series.

Re: (civicmaniac)
buy a high end camshaft and a turbo kit. you can get up around 200hp with about 160tq. at a very good price. you can kill every b,h,k,d, out there. dont' forget, turbo got a much better powerband. yup, and if they turbocharge. well that's because they about 4times as much. put that in your d motor. and your be at 400hp. haha people.

What do you think about a ZC dohc into a 97 civic coupe??? i dont know what to do i wanted to stay single cam and boost it but what are the advantages to a dohc besides HP??? im new to the dual cam world so i want some info b4 i switch over, but if i do a dual cam i dont want to spend tons of loot so is it worth it to change from a d16z6 that i put in this car and boost it or switch to a dohc ZC and boost that??????

ZC motor is mainly a cheap swap for EF chassis, but there are few who put it into EG and EK's. The motor is OBD0 and some rare OBD1 of the ZC's.
I wouldn't recommend a ZC swap into an EK unless you really have your mind set on it and want the ZC swap.
I would go for a D16Z6 or Y8 if you want to go budget swap. If not a B16.

Your opinion. I didn't swap my lowly Y7 out, but that doesn't mean that it won't be gone somewhere down the road. To each his own.

This can be found in the new EP3, the RSX (base and Type S) as well as other cars across the world (RSX R, etc). This is the future of the swap IMHO. There is a writeup on installing one of these in one issue of Sport Compact Car magazine (June 2004 I *think*)
Pros
200 hp 158 ft/lbs torque (RSX R)
I-VTEC
Respond VERY well to bolt ons
6 speed transmission
Most have very low miles
Cons
Still super expensive
More difficult swap than a B or D
</TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm very interested in getting this one done later on. HASPORT has developed many items for the EG. I like how this thread summarized pros and cons!

Re: What swaps are available for my Civic? (BlackEg9sd)
B18C1 (or JDM B18C)
These come out of an Integra GSR.
Pros
Good Hp and TQ numbers (170, 121 ft/lbs respectively)
DOHC VTEC
Tons of potential
High revving
Cons
Expensive
Becoming moreso as people keep scooping them up
Slighty longer tranny than the ITR and B16
------------------------------------------
I wanna get this, but i am now worried about this: "Slighty longer tranny than the ITR and B16." How will that affect installation and performance? What does it mean to me?

Re: What swaps are available for my Civic? (K20Civic)
Also Vortech Makes a Turbo for the B16A-Si engine that put on 117 more Hp. So a B16A is a smart swap because they are non-expensive and if you have the money the Vortech Turbo gives u big Hp increase.

Re: What swaps are available for my Civic? (Ricey McRicerton)
personally the b16a is something to look at. mostly the B16a2 if you have a civic it will be the cheap , easy, and less headaches . or you could step it up to a b18c. got to have vtec either way you choose to go. good luck. oH yea make sure you do some background info. on the company you buy it from. ALOT of people or getting ripped off these days.

Re: What swaps are available for my Civic? (Ricey McRicerton)
Question for you guys. I have a '96 Civic 4dr and I was thinking about doing the B20 block with the B16 head swap. Can anyone tell me some pro's and con's about doing this swap and i would like to know what you guys think would be the best swap for my car. Thanks
