ENGINE SWAP IDEAS
Ok I have a 2000 Ex coupe , I wanna get a better engine (DUH) or I wouldn't be posting this . Which would be a better idea to go with . 1) Going and getting a b16a set up (trans ecu motor etc etc.) having it installed (((have a friggen Auto))) or 2) just go get a manual civic and then do the swap with that ?
PS I hate Auto but you can power shift it sometimes LOL

b18c1 - usdm gsr
b18c5 - usdm ITR
b18c - jspec gsr
b18 - jspec ITR
h22a - prelude
then theres the crv (b20) and LS (b18)... but theyre not really better than an Si unless you want to mix n' match

Re: ENGINE SWAP IDEAS (jdm_latino)
if you knew you wnated power than why did you get a civic in the first place. i personally would not have bought a brand new civic then want to swap, there are probaly like no miles on your car now right? sell it and buy a high milage ek and swap in that. get a vx 96 cause that should have miles and is light. go even cheaper and get a eg, but an ej8 (6th gen coupe ex) isn't all they great casue of weight. not bad but not great

k20a is an rsx engine for those with honda insights looking for speed.. yes it bolts up.. and go with an h22a.. screw b series.. why have less horsepower when you can have more stock.. unless you get an type r engine, then its allready built to all holy hell..

Re: ENGINE SWAP IDEAS (deepnite)
Hey if I knew I was gonna get into all this I would have got a stick and I wouldn't have got the car I got now but , its alittle to late now . I like the cars and I like hooking them up . My car has 30 thou on her and I have been shifting the trans like that from day one (Yes kicking himself in the *** for not having a manual)but like I said I cant do much besides changing cars or something and right now is not a good time for getting a new car . Thanks for the feedback though

if u were going to swap..why not just get a JRSC..enjoy the ride and in 4 yrs when the price of USDM motors come down and are more plentiful..do a transplant then

sell your auto....get the manuel....price for auto to manuel at least 500 bucks plus parts....so probably around 1200 total for auto to manuel swap....it is a PITA!!
lots of sights to help you do it though if you are mechanically inclinded...
i would get a craphatch if you just want to go fast....you'll never be supper fast in a coupe unless you strip it out (400lbs more than a hatch) and trust me that 400 pounds makes a huge difference....that is why i can pull itr's with my b16a 92 hatch!!
well those are my thoughts....or just put an auto h22 in your car now....that would be fast!

b18c- either JDM ITR Or GSR not b18-JDM ITR. THe engine codes on a JDM GSR and ITR are the same, the only way u can tell is by the head, and the only way u can tell without the head on the car is well u cant...

Re: ENGINE SWAP IDEAS (SlooowEG)
Lets not forget the JDM B16B CTR. That would be a nice swap if he didn't have to worry about smog etc. I bought one last week and will be putting it in my 92 CX next weekend. Why not a ITR you ask? Well I wanted to be different and from what I hear there aren't as many CTR's as ITR's in Japan. I also haven't heard of anyone doing a CTR swap in a 92-95.
B16B next weekend into the hatch.......
