Default Engine is Leaning sideways...

after i changed my 92 civic dx into a 5spd d16z6 the transmition is high. like if you look at the engine from a 10 foot distance it seems as if the transmition mount it to tall for the car. its up 3 inchs more than it should be. what could have happened during this swap lol? and is it bad to drive like this because i have done 800 miles like this.

You didn't buy a conversion mount or cut the automatic pocket mount off and weld the manual version on did you? The automatic pocket mount welded to the frame angled up, the manual version is flat. The automatic version also sits about half an inch further ahead, you will break axles from the poor axle angle if you keep driving it like that.

are you serious? i drove 1500 miles and it still runs great since the swap. and no i didn't change any of the motor mounts. i only have 4 of them on the tranny side mount i didn't put on.

i was thinking of puting a lot of washers on the tranny upper mount and it will straighten out.

where can i get the new pocket mount at? and how much?

Also we just did a auto-5spd swap on my homeboys 2000 civic ex. single y8 and it didn't lean at all.

automatic to manual conversions will need some converting on the tranny mount side if you want your motor to sit right

The tranny side bracket on the car is different between the auto and 5speed. You can pick up a mount from a junkyard, just drill out the spot welds. You will need to take the engine out to remove and install the new mount.

Theres a reason for that. The '96 - '00 civics have the upper transmission bracket bolted to the tranny, instead of being welded to the frame rail.

Indeed they learned from their mistake.

You can either buy a conversion mount (I believe innovative sells them for around $150) or you can drill all the spot welds out of the pocket mount on any '92 - '95 manual civic and then weld it to your frame rail after removing the automatic mount.
