Engine help please 93 civic dx
Hi guys I'm new to the forums and i had a question. I recently found out that my 93 civic DX auto has a blown head gasket and was recommended to me from a mechanic that i know plus many family members who are more mechanically talented than I am that I should just yank the engine put in another one, question is that is there another alternative to putting in a d15b7 that would be relatively simple and inexpensive. I would prefer to keep this car a long time and not do any drastic changes in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry i forgot to add that the heads are bent and the internals are pretty much screwed do i might as well buy a used engine and replace the whole thing.

No, why do all that when the pistons n stuff are good? Take the head off and go buy a used one from used auto part place for under $200 and go have it pressure tested and or rebuilt at machine shop or take chance and put it on and run it.
Or go to autozone and get a brand new one for $500 and new head gasket u will be good to go. If you buy a used one from used auto part place 90 percent of the time their good because they come off a running engine. on a d15b7 you shouldn't have a problem changing the heads.

if you buy a new engine get a JDM D15B. more power and more quality. its like 25 more HP then the non V-Tec engine.

****, head gaskets are no big deal. At All!
go to a few yard and look for some D16 vtecs, do a mini me swap and get that 25hp!
if you know what your doing and have all the parts. a head gasket will take 30 mins

Swap in 1 hour? You need to set the timing belt and all. That takes time. Hell, I bet just dealing with the accessories like PS pump, wiring, coolant, etc. takes an hour.

I've seen a complete motor swap done and running in under 3 hours. A half hour-hour seems feasible if you dont have p/s and a/c

yes that is true.
the only park that takes long is the crank pulley and timing belt.
Setting TDC takes minutes.
just making the point tho. save the car. do the head gasket and mini me swap in the future?
