I put this set in, in 98 and to this day it is still one of the best suspension upgrades ive done. Huge difference in overall feeling of the ride and response. Id highly recomend doing it.
oh... and yes, it is a complete pain in the ***. I did at home on jackstands and it took me about 8 hours from start to finish to do. If you have a press it will be much easier.

It's a PITA to do, but I also think it's the best suspension mod I've done. I a had 2nd car to use, and took my time doing it over a week (working on it a couple hrs a night). You should wait on your alignment till you've installed the new ones. If you plan on paying a shop to do it be prepared. The lowest quote I got was $800.

If you have access to a press and you have proper tools to remove suspension components and what not, shouldn't take you more than 4 hours being somewhat of a n00bie.

I have it, and i love it. had it on my prelude too.
well, like the others said, basic hand tools, jack, jack stand, maybe another friend, and then a hydraulic press will do the job for you as long as the bolts have never seen salt like in the southern states. but if its from the north, where there is shitload of salt everywhere you go which will rust up the metal. then oh boy you will need more than that, you would need power tools, maybe hacksaw and torch.
after hours and hours of hell work sweating, busting knuckles, pounding, swearing, all the sound of the power tools making, several wd40's and you end up snapping a bolt head off using a 8ft extension pipe to give the additional force.. and the shock is still on there...
then the installation is ease. it just pops in there. and after all that work, its well worth it, because your car will feel better, response better, plus the next time you want to put in new bushings, it will be easy, it will just pop out. without needing any special tools.

Definitely get the energy suspension. Had them on my 94 teg, 92 hatch, 70 240 Z and now on my 00 coupe. I love these things. You are paying about the going rate. The install will be a pain, if you try a shop, go to a shop that has the equipment, but has not actually done the specific job before. They should be able to do it with no problem and will charge you cheap, but they will regret it after. If you are the first for them, you will get a good price.
