Default EM1 electrical,, how tight should alternator belt be?

My car is a 2000 honda civic si. i have a digital battery life gauge and it slowly drops until dead whenever i have a new battery installed. Ive put a new alternator and battery on but one thing that worrys me is the alternator belt being so loose. Can anyone help with any info or links that explains the level of tension on the belt? thank you!!

Chief smackahoe? my alternator belt has about a half inch of play and it runs fine.
